Are you serious right now? (Sparty Ops)

OK, so let me get this straight. 343 are “releasing” a new episode for 9 weeks or something. No download. That means it is A: already on the disc and B: already purchased as the game content when I/you bought the game.

Not to mention you have to be ONLINE and have gold to play ON DISC content that I/you BOUGHT as part of the package of the game.

Why should I/you have to WAIT for any content that I/you ALREADY PURCHASED with the disc? Why am I/you being FORCED to buy LIVE (I already have it) for something that is DISC LOCKED CONTENT? Why can I not just blow through the entirety of Sparty Ops when and where I want without having to resort to burning more of MY time waiting for the damn thing to be unlocked? And WHY is the HELL and I having to run through the same rehashed levels that I already did in Sparty Ops? Some of which are straight from campaign?

Some of us have jobs that demand that we be places at specific times for months at a time 343. Me being one of them. Just unlock the -Yoinking!- content already 343. I don’t have time to wait around for the -Yoink- -Yoink- game you are playing. I want to play what I paid for NOW!

How to know if someone is insecure about what they just typed: They’ll write something like this-

Why are you so mad? I’m in my final year in college doing Engineering so I doubt I’ll get much time at all to play Spartan ops. Just play it when you can. They don’t disappear.

You think this disk locked content is bad? You should have been around the Epic forums when it was found out that to unlock all the weapon skins would cost 45$, didn’t come with the high end edition of the game, and they were all on disk as well.

At least (most) players will get these for free. It’s not near ideal though.

At least it’s free. Remember Horde Command Pack for GoW3?

Not sure why it’s like this, but I do think it’ll be more fun to receive them weekly–maybe I wouldn’t if I were in your position, though.

^I was there bro. It was hell.

@first response, way to completely dodge any points I made.

So do you also want an entire season of a new TV show to release all episodes for everyone to view on the same day also?

> So do you also want an entire season of a new TV show to release all episodes for everyone to view on the same day also?

Here’s the difference. I don’t already OWN that TV show.

Yes, but you pay to watch it.

Episodes were meant to give people something to look forward to every week. The fact that they are on the disc is irrelevant.

Hahaha Op is under a rock.

Seriously though - How about Battlefield 3?
A new map pack, complete with new weapons is release for players to purchase.
Just before that though, DICE release a 1.4Gb “patch/update”.

Now, those players who did not buy the new map pack, cannot select the new weapons for their loadouts. However, when they kill someone in game who drops one, all of a sudden they’re walking around with this new weapon that they supposedly haven’t downloaded/paid for. Know how? Because all the 3D models, skins and data for it were included in the Massive patch that EVERYONE had to download.

Therefore, this whole thing is not new at all. In fact, the example above is even worse because it forces people who want to play to download a massive update, burning through their data cap, for which half the patch content us locked unless they pay money to have it unlocked!

Anyway, it’s being done like this for a reason - to make it so there’s always bits of something new/fresh to come back to Halo for each week. As opposed to burning through it all in one hit.

I am not even going to dignify a response to the mental display you just pushed onto this thread…

Yeah, I got to go with this. If we got them all at once we’d be done with SOps by now. And everyone (that did any reading about H4) knew that each episode would be released to them once a week. You’re only upset now because you found out it’s on the disc.

Another reason for it to be episodic is for the weekly challenges that go along with each episode.

My point was the I am sick to death of this kind of extortion of gamers wallets. And guess what, it does not happen that often to PC gamers. This is why pirating is such a big thing. Why pay for something included on the disc? I know I wouldn’t/won’t. Devs get everything the deserve when people pirate there games. I have no pity for them when this kind of -Yoink- runs rampant.

Good point.

Fun fact: TV shows work in the same way.

That’s like whining that you bought the season pass and mad that you have to wait for them to be released. I mean honestly, people will pick the dumbest things to cry like a -Yoink- about. Please, I would be deeply appreciative if you would refrain from speaking. and go away if you don’t like it…jesus

What’s next, are you going to whine that you bought the game that has specializations on and you have to rank up before getting access to them?

Yeah I am, and everyone with a brain should be as well. If I pay for something up front, I want to be able to use what I paid for. They a deliberately holding back content I paid for for some gimmicky weekly distribution garbage. I was never on the band-wagon for this behavior.

They deliberately told you it would be like this.

It’s like ordering a soda with free refills and expecting all refills up front.
