Halo 4 will be here eventually. And I wanted to voice my opinions on the swap out. (Reach for 4)
I’m nervous as a crab at seafood eatery. I love Reach and the thing about video games is that you have to expect sudden change and loss.
I don’t want either. Reach has been good to me and I’m going to miss it. I played the Beta and been through each and every update right until the TU possibility.
I’m not going to hate 4 because of it’s place taking properties, but I am scared that a flame that still burning strong (Reach) could be kaput easily. I don’t want to make this a tl;dr thread so let me wrap this up with a question.
Are you scared that Halo 4 will replace Reach or open-minded and excited for it’s release?
I’m mostly excited, the story is the biggest part of my excitement. I’m a little worried about gameplay but I think it will probably be awesome as well.
If you played Halo 3, then you probably experienced the same thing when Reach came out. It’s always sad to say goodbye to a favourite game, but I’m sure that in a few years’ time, you’ll be worried about the transition from Halo 4 to Halo 5.
And I’d like to apologise in advance for all the people that are going to enter this thread and ridicule you for liking Reach. I wish I could say that they mean well, but… they don’t.

Lol, I reread my post and realized I inadvertently quoted Jorge.

I felt the same way for Halo 3, just not quite as strong. I got my XB near the end of Halo 3 long run, so Reach is my Halo 3 in terms of game longevity. What’s more: Let them come. I have no shame in admitting I believe Reach was a good, nay, an awesome game. I like all the Halo equally. Just like I won’t be forced to constrict my views on one console (XB and PS) I like 'em both and I will enjoy their dedicated games without hesitation.

Well, as someone who also enjoyed Reach, I have your back.

Agreed. But I’m sure 343 realizes the mass they’re trying to appeal to. I don’t think they have it in them to mess up to bad… hopes
The only thing I fear for Halo 4 is that it goes down the same path as Halo: Reach.
A minority -Yoink!-s and complains about the game’s intended mechanics and 343 yet again applies settings to appease to those people and eventually smothers those who actually liked the game as it was to death.
I’m excited, very excited, a little scared, because this is a huge, and when I say huge, I mean something that could make or break a franchise comparable to Star Wars. We’re used to bungie, and we know and have seen that they could do it, but what about 343i?
As for parting from other games, this doesn’t really concern me, I will still play Reach, I love it, and thoroughly enjoyed it, I don’t care what Reach haters say.
Everything I saw from 343 so far eg the newer map packs like that one in the spartan training ground on reach with the covie ships and crashe pelican has been prett good (wish that map would pop in big team).
A little bit of both. The reasons I am excited range from the fact that it is continuing the story of Master Chief and Cortana, creating a new set of games for a new generation, and I am looking forward to seeing the direction these new games might lead to.
Now the reasons I am scared is because Halo is one of my most favourite video game franchises ever. Though I have been impressed by some things 343 have done like Halo Waypoint. I’ve yet to play any game that 343 have created themselves and i’ve also yet to see any gameplay from Halo 4. If they mess Halo 4 off, they could potentially kill off any hopes of a successful Reclaimer trilogy.

Sorry to burst you bubble, but those map-packs were primarily made by Certain Affinity. They’ve been making Halo maps since Halo 2.
