Are you sad there is no firefight?

Most of you know that Firefight will not be returning for Halo 4. However, it is being replaced by Spartan Ops.

Are any of you guys sad there is no Firefight?

I’m not, not really. I found ODST Firefight very underrated, and I loved the ---- out of it. It was challenging, but still fun. And then there came Reach. Most people I know loved Reach’s firefight, but I didn’t too much. It felt too “arcade-y.” I don’t know what/why but something about Reach’s Firefight didn’t have the same impression on me as ODST’s Firefight.

Pretty much this.

I honestly adored ODST firefight. Was hoping for Reach to be like it, but turned out to be an all you can eat noob fest with insta rocket spawn kills lol.

I would have liked to see it return, but it’s not like it no longer exists in ODST or Reach just because it’s not in Halo 4. If I want to play some Firefight, I’ll pop either of those games in.

Exactly! My buds are like, “Reach’s Firefight is an improved version of Firefight!”
When I play Firefight on Reach, just killing wave after wave, it’s kind of boring.

I also think that Firefight is much more fun when you are playing without shields, like an ODST. There’s more of a challenge, and it’s fun to take cover and stuff. More realistic, too. It’s better than spamming grenades and a fuel rod cannon/rocket launcher.

Spartan Ops to me is Firefight but a lot cooler and gives me a reason to come back and play instead of over and over kill kill kill kill.

Well Spartan Ops is a mix of Firefight and Campaign. So I think it’ll be better… hopefully. Though I will miss Gruntpocalypse. But there will be SO missions that are vehicle baised and maybe some heavy weapon baised who knows? I’m sure it will be fun. It sounds good, so I’ll probably not miss firefight too much.

I agree with this as well. Halo Reach’s Firefight just wasn’t as exciting. Perhaps it was because we had unlimted ammo due to ammo crates and were much tougher to kill. Most importantly, ODST’s Firefight required the players to work as a team to succeed, while in Reach you could tank it out on your own. Even on Legendary, it wasn’t as fun and challenging.

There isn’t going to be?

How disappointing.

Not in particular. I believe that this is more of an evolution of Firefight. Firefight was great (though personally I preferred ODST’s version for some reason), but it was just a matter of how far you could go before things were so stacked against you you could not possibly win fairly. This is Firefight, but with an objective. Shorter missions, but MANY of them- and varied as well!

I think this is, I won’t say the ‘natural’ evolution, but an augmented evolution to what Firefight has been these last few years.

I expect Spartan Ops to be a mixture of Firefight and Campaign. I love Campaign! There are many things I love about Firefight, but I hope Spartan Ops will have more qualities of ODST Firefight than Reach Firefight. ODST Firefight + H4 Campaign = Perfect Spartan Ops experience for me.

Spartan ops>>>>>firefight

I don’t even understand the point in giving us Overshield. I think we all could’ve done well without it, except for the elite hord spawns…

I just felt like I was senselessly killing for nothing. I only played firefight when I had a challenge to do, but now I don’t even do them that much anymore for challenges (cr completion).

I completely agree, I wasn’t a huge fan of Reach’s firefight and preferred ODST’s. I think a lot of that had to do with Reach changing the format. You always play sniperfight, or rocketfight, or some other silly type of FF, but never regular and if you do play regular its not about survival.

As for missing it, yeah it would be nice to have it back if they made it ODST’s but otherwise I’m fine without it. Besides I’m super pumped for SOps and feel like its going to be a great replacement.

Aye, exactly. I did create a Firefight gametype that mirrored the movement speed, damage, melee, etc. of the classic playlists, and removed the ammo crates. I think playing that gametype on Installation 04 is the most fun I’ve ever had playing Reach Firefight.

Here’s what I think of Firefight of Reach and ODST.

ODST - Survival and killing to survive and for fun
Reach - Kill, kill, kill!

I like the idea of spartans ops better than firefight. But in a perfect world I would have both.

ODST’s firefight was perfect.

The only mode I liked in Reach’s firefight was Firefight Arcade.
I was also really disappointed that Reach never had and “Endless Firefight Mode”, the highest you could ever go online was 1 set.

Sincerely, I’m happy.

This. Reach was such a disappointment with Firefight…
