Are you happy with where Halo is going?

First off this is all opinion, well that and proof with numbers. But I did enjoy single player, even if it was short and the boss fight was ehh but the ending to me was great. Anyways…

Halo 4 sold almost twice as much as Minecraft and FIFA13 yet it drops to #4 after TWO MONTHS?! Something no TRUE Halo game has ever done. Hell, even Reach was #3 by now but behind TWO COD TITLES, which sold millions more unlike this situation where Halo is being beat by games which sold millions LESS. And Reach held #3 for a YEAR.

Sorry, I love Halo but the sales for Halo 5 will be less if 343 continues down the CoD road. Yes, all games take ideas from one another. CoD took a GREAT thing from Halo, Theatre, and built upon it. Bungie dumbed it down to 1 person in everything and then 343i make it 1 person in War Games matches ONLY.

343i takes Kill Streaks… sorry Point Streaks, ugh I mean ordinance. As well as instant spawn which is horribly broken in a game that has shields. 343i took kill cams, which are pointless but an obvious thing to create a CoD game over a Halo game, and doesn’t even have them working properly. Spreaking of things not working… Halo 4 has fileshare? You mean that thing that is only there to get easy achievements? AND you let everyone spawn with a shotgun.

Bungie MADE Halo. Bungie hurt Halo with Reach, but by making this game CoD in space, 343i has KILLED Competitive Halo. Only positive change from Reach MP to H4, is bye bye Bloom.

Some might say its about adapting, which every Halo game forces you to do . H2 introduced dual wielding and took away the 3SK Pitol, H3 introduced equipment and still held #1 over CoD until MW2, by then H3 was 2 years old but still held a solid #2.

But the changes in the last 2 installments have forced many people to leave rather than adapt and as Microsofts flagship game, and IN MY OPINION, the main reason Xbox tops PS3 it is a very dangerous trend and I guess as long as they hype it up they will make their money in initial sales but holding players is becoming an issue for this franchise, and it truly saddens me and many, many others.

I most definitely am not happy with the direction the game is going. I grew up with Unreal Tournament 1999, first played it when I was 6? So when I first played Halo 2, it naturally made me want to play it, everything about the game was very appealing. Everything that appealed to me has either been removed or completely changed for the worse, the game has received very many unnecessary additions that are hurting the game extremely.

I quit the game, I have given it enough chances, I simply cannot find it in me to enjoy the game. Every time I gave it a chance, the result was the same.

Also, may I remind the people that we were blatantly lied to. “We’re taking the game back to it’s roots” “It still feels like Halo, trust us” “The game will last for years!” They couldn’t be any further from the truth, especially “We’re taking the game back to it’s roots”

It will be hard to get people back that were burned by this game.

H5 will be the first Halo game I rent instead of pre-ordering, and I really won’t want to get ripped off with a season map pass again. What a waste of points.

My first FPS was the old school MoH but the first FPS that I played for longer than a month was Halo 1 and I still play it to this day at LANS and its just a far more balanced game with no gimmicks, and nothing to try to make it something it is not. It was unique, as was Halo 2 and 3. Reach began the transition to becoming a more traditional FPS. Yes, Halo 4 has the Halo sandbox (some might argue against that) but I see it. However, the ordinance, killcams, instant spawn, shotgun-on-spawn and NEEDING A MOD TO PICK UP GRENADES are just not Halo.

I’ve quit Halo. I love this community(Despite its problems), and because of that, I continue to check back and hope for some good news.

But honestly speaking, Halo 4 was the nail in the coffin. Even Reach felt far more like a Halo game than this.

I want classic Halo back. I miss the simple days. I miss when Halo was different from anything else in the market… And I’m sure an old-fashioned Halo with a few new bells and whistles would do just fine even in today’s market.

Between the end of the -Yoink!- Gaming Tournament and the TU, H4 will likely fall right out of the Top 5 most played games on XBL.

But yeah, this game is so far from it’s roots and repulsive to play, I’ve gone all the way back to H3 at times just because there’s too many H4 elements that came from Reach, for me to actually put in Reach and stomach as well.

I’m going back 5+ years to enjoy playing Halo multiplayer.

Can H4 even be called Halo anymore? Even the manner in which they redesigned the elites appearance, grunts, etc … it’s all too much and too drastic. It was all unnecessary.

Of all things that needed a fresh coat of paint, the Covenant … c’mon. Seriously?

I also believe that. My worry is not I will rent, miss out on pre order bonuses and it will be a great game because they will bring it back to its roots xD

But sadly, Microsoft catches on to things when it is too late to come back and I don’t see this happening

I quit too… the forums are still fun for now tho.

Borderlands 2 has so much more content since I ejected it for Halo 4, it’s like a new game again.

While I agree Halo 4 is worth of quitting, BL2 was nothing more than a big expansion pack of BL1. It was the epitome of repetitive game play.

Most of my friends quit Halo and went to Far Cry 3.

I have been one of those 20 people on Halo 2 for the PC lmao buuut it will soon be gone as well :frowning: and isn’t Halo 3 going offline this year too? I am not sure if that was just a rumor or confirmed but it saddens me.

The redesigns don’t bother me, and I kinda like Halo trying to be “more serious” even though the old school grunts were funny =P but the gameplay just… idk its there, but its blanketed by so many things that just ruin it for me.

Far Cry 3 is pretty great. The last few months I’ve been mostly trying to get into PC gaming. I bought the high end Alienware X51 and put a 2GB card into it instead of the standard 1.5 and I love it for BF3 but Im mostly using my over priced computer for Halo 2 haha until The Elder Scrolls Online comes out, then I will certainly give that a try

I hate the direction it is going in, its leading no variation what so ever in the fps genre. Not to mention i hate classed based shooters as well. But as it stands that is all we ever get anymore classed based shooters that for the most part play the same but have small differences. This is in turn in my opinion leading to the slow death of the fps genre with everything being the same we have no options what so ever.

Halo 5 will be the first halo title in years that I will probably never buy if it at all resembles halo 4.

> My first FPS was the old school MoH…

Same here, I have fond memories of the early MOH releases. I also played a lot of Half Life 2 and would love to see a HL3 for Xbox.

343 has an opportunity with the next TU to redesign the game. Halo 4 is not liked by half the Halo players, I’d say.
We didn’t ask for the changes 343 included in the game, but if 343 wants to include them anyway, at least we should have the freedom to choose classic playlists, the original Halo experience.

Personally, I don’t believe the TU will do much. Unless it is a DRASTIC change, I don’t see people going back to Gamestop or wherever and rebuying a game they already took back. I still have mine and will certainly give it a shot and MAYBE I will enjoy it, but I am not going to get my hopes up that a TU will save a game that lost over 75% of its initial users and is losing to games that sold half of the copies it has…

I see potential in this game and still enjoy playing it. I will admit however, that I was not a lover of arena shooters so this is more of my game type. That being said I do miss things from the previous Halos and wish this had a bit more Halo feel. Overall I would say 7/10 for me with potential upside in the coming months.

I grew up on PC gaming but it became too pricy to keep up with the regular upgrades to keep my system competitive. It’s one of the reasons why I enjoy playing console games via Xbox (that, and the much lower frequency rates of cheaters/hacks compared to PC versions). Also, now that you can play FPS with a keyboard/mouse on the Xbox, it allows PC gamers an option of transitioning over without having to sacrifice their controller preference.

I cant remember the name but there is a MOD that posts often on these posts.

Idk if he works internally for 343 or is simply a forum mod but I would like to see explanations for taking Halo 4 down the CoD route and/or ideas from them on how to better the franchise for Halo 5 instead of waiting until 3 weeks before release when they put out most of the info.

Am I happy Halo is becoming Call of Duty? Nope. And that’s coming from someone who likes both franchises and enjoys playing them for their unique strengths.
