Not in the slightest. I knew from the second it was announced as a live service that it was over. They tried so hard to please the casuals and now they’re all gone with nobody left. 343 has traded a quick buck for a thriving community and it shows.
I remember telling people on the og forum and all i got was “It’s an old build dude you don’t know what you’re talking about” and then it came out and it was… “It’s just a multiplayer beta, it’s nowhere near finished” and now we’re at “It’s a live service game, it’s suppose to get better as time goes on”. At this point, any slight improvement to this game is a step up, even if it is leagues behind other halo games. Sad…
This roadmap coming out is pretty crucial. I’m loving Halo Infinite so far, but the current implementation of events, challenges, and weeklies isn’t enough to sustain the multiplayer for ten years. I think they’re gonna need a pretty robust Forge feature, and I don’t just mean from the tools side of things. I think Forge is gonna need an even bigger role in sharing community created content, and be powerful enough to make truly wacky maps.
I may be old fashioned, but I hate live-service games. I just want to give you my $60-70 and have the entire game. You shouldn’t need to have a drip feed of “new” (read: withheld) content to keep you interested. But alas, the Fortnite generation seems to have influenced every game these days.
A big thank you too all who voted, 343i might not see or pay attention to this poll but it’s good to see people’s different views on Halo being a live service game.
Fingers crossed there will be a better response from 343i over content, service, playlist updates, store prices and store content. Yes it’s a 10 year journey but better communication, rapid response to community issues and overall improvement to both campaign and multiplayer will happen sooner rather than later.
