Like at an event or something? I’m just wondering how many people here have already played the game. Or how many are getting to play it this or next month. Or how many have to actually wait until november 6th.
I will play Halo 4 at the First Look event, oct 6th. How about you?
Unless there’s a gaming event here in Utah where 343i is letting people get hands on demo to play, I don’t see me getting my hands on Halo 4 until release.

Wait what?
A beta would have given a vast selection of players to test the game and help 343 out further with tweaking matchmaking and multiplayer itself. Letting people play at game events really restricts what 343 thinks they need to fix so far compared to the amount of feedback they’d get from a Beta. And it’s not like they couldn’t have had a Beta AND do events at the same time.
So, I’m really not sure where you pulled the entire “waisting time” thing from.

It slows down development. In the time it takes to get a beta ready to go, test, and sent out over XBL, get played by millions of people, collect data, and use said data to tweak the game, 343 could be actually putting some real polish in to the game. Playing a beta like demo doesn’t produce constructive criticism. People just nit-pick at the game. Most players only use a multiplayer beta as a demo. A small portion of the game to whet the appetite. And actually playing the game to post feedback on the forum is useless because developers cannot legally take feedback from a public forum unless they actually request constructive criticism. Even then, they have every right to disregard said feedback if they felt it unnecessary, so it wouldn’t really matter.
Beta’s normally come online with months of planning ahead of time and they usually are playable near the end of the development cycle. Feedback from the forum would be pretty much useless. It’s just data collection from the beta that actually gets processed and used to tweak the game. 343 had no intention of a beta from the beginning when it would have made sense to plan it.
Essentially, it’s a waste of time unless you plan for a beta.
My copy may be delivered a day early (or a day late, it’s a double-edged sword) so there’s a possibility that I might be able to play technically before launch.
