Microsoft announced at E3 that Halo 3 will be released for free on XBL within a few months. Once Halo 3 becomes free I really do think that the Halo 4 population will drop even more while Halo 3 gets repopulated once again. Which will kinda suck in 343’s case. Just wondering would you guys leave Halo 4 and go back to the amazing Halo 3.

I allready have, I am hoping with H3 being free more people will play it as well.
I don’t know if I’ll leave Halo 4 (even though I don’t play as much as I used to) but I’ll definitely check H3 out, I traded in my H3 disc a while back and wish I hadn’t. When exactly is the free download coming?

I left Halo 4 ages ago. If Halo 3’s population rises, I’ll renew my Gold and start playing it again.
I’m not defending Halo 4 but I do not know where the thought that Halo 3’s population is going to skyrocket once it is free is coming from. I’m sure most people that bought Halo 3 still have and would play it if they wanted to. And for those that have never owned Halo 3, what would keep them from leaving the multiplayer after a day? The only playlists that do not require all DLC are Lone Wolves, Team Slayer, Social Slayer and Multiteam.
Some people may use evidence of Fable 3 that Halo 3’s population will go up a lot. Well when you compare the sales, they are not even close. According to VGCharts, Halo 3 has sold 11.78 million copies as of June 22nd 2013 and Fable 3 has sold 4.93 million copies as of June 22nd 2013. Simply, more people have not played Fable 3 before compared to Halo 3 and a lot of people were getting to play it for the first time.
I could see Halo 3’s population jump by like 5000 for a day but then drop again.

I already own Halo 3.
If the population rises significantly, I might play from time to time.
Otherwise, I’ll stick with Halo 4. Halo 4 has its flaws, but the combat is more fluid and you can actually find matches.
If Halo 3’s MM population skyrocketed over it being free (which I really doubt) then I’ll be on that faster than imaginable.
