Hi, everyone! As the topic suggests, I’m wondering how many of you are getting the physical or digital edition of Halo Infinite? As we live in a more digital age, most of us have gone accustomed to the ups and cons of digital media; the ability to preload a game before launch, avoiding hurdles of waiting long periods of time for games to download and install on our machines. With digital media, we can avoid all that with the cost of not owning something physical, as say the steelbook edition, for our eyes to gaze upon and worship with awe.
I must say, as a Halo fan I am torn between the two perspectives; on one hand I want to celebrate Halo’s 20th anniversary with something special that I can put up as a token of appreciation, but on the other hand it’s bothersome with physical disc-based media- and I want to play day one. Also, I remember dearly how my Xbox Series X had difficulty reading Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s game disc, and as such, I am more leaning towards preordering the digital version on Microsoft Store. To solve my gripes, however, I am indeed seeking to buy a Halo special edition controller, as it will both be practical while gaming and serve an aesthetical purpose on the shelf when not in usage. That is what my mind is currently sitting at, but what are yours?
Are you getting the physical or digital edition, what are your motivations behind each choice? I want to know.

I’m in a technicality loophole. I have a digital copy of the game pre-ordered on Steam, but I also have a Halo Infinite Xbox Series X pre-ordered as well. That has a code for a digital version of the game. Does that count as a physical edition?

I’m in a similar boat.
I have the Console on order, which comes with the digital edition of the game, but I’ve always been fond of physical copies, especially if they are LE and come with extra goodies.
I got around it with the Halo 4 360, as I sold the base game, one of the controllers, and the headset, which made purchasing the LE Game justifiable.
This time I’ve paid an extra $50 for a digital game I can’t pawn.
So buying it full price again just to get the cool collectibles is a no-go for me.
For me it’s digital/game pass only. I actually bought all games physical so far but that was mainly because digital wasn’t an option.
I’ve actually had to buy H5 digital as well when I got my XSX because I couldn’t find the disc and apparently you can’t just install it digitally when you own a physical copy… don’t want that to happen again lol
I only buy digital, saves me having to keep changing disks, good thing iv’e been doing that as now have series s, game up trying to get a series x.
I went all digital with my games a long long time ago, being able to just load up a game instantly is much better for me then having to get up, get the case, out the disk in, change disks, put it all away again, eurgh.
With a Series X too, quick resume, plenty of SSD space, all digital just makes sense for me.
Selling a disk once I’m done with it isn’t exactly a thrilling financial experience either. They’re worth so little and holding them just takes up space.
Digital its how I get all my games now and due to ease of PC low prices of games and never needing for physical space its a win/win for me.
Digital is a llt easier as can load straight up off console but I will also get a physical edition for collection as love their designs.
I’m on PC but want a physical box. Looks like I will need to buy the game twice for that.

Digital, I don’t see the point of owning physical copies of games anymore. They just take up space, and the discs can be scratched. Digital licenses lasts for life.

Seeing as the game is completely free* if you have xbox game pass I’ll be getting a digital copy.
That said, I’ve also got the limited edition console coming…so again a digital copy
Unless there’s a good reward in multi-player for playing campaign, I’m probably not gonna pick it up immediately. I’m on PC and physical copies of games are kind of a thing of the past so I guess I’d be getting a digital copy.

I’d normally get a physical copy of the next big Halo game but due to my paranoia caused by COVID-19, I’ll be getting digital.

Digital for me. I haven’t bought a physical copy of a game in years.
I have an Xbox Series S so I only have one choice

Got my Physical Copy Steelbook reserved at Gamestop. I really wish there was a Collector’s Edition, but I’m just happy to have the game.
Digital editions only as I have 3 players in the house, 2 consoles and a gaming pc. Not buying halo infinite as I have game pass ultimate.
I switched from physical to digital part way through last gen. It’s just so damn convenient and I stopped caring about building a physical collection.

Both.
I have it preordered on Steam, but will be buying a physical copy because I want to collect it. I only buy physical copies of games that I have an attachment to (Halo and KOTOR being the only ones I can think of at the moment).
