Are you down for a new species?

During the campaign overview, we got an official look at the Harbinger. It appears that she’s not part of any established species, but something brand new. Are you for them bringing in a new species? I think it’ll come down to execution. Thankfully we have only basically a month to find out.

I mean, to be fair it is a space shooter.

Then again No Man’s Sky has basically unlimited galaxies and 3.5 races :stuck_out_tongue:

Having the variety that we have of sub-races of the covenant thanks to 343i what I would like to see is without a doubt those sub-races integrated into the game in a different way. Being able to see them swarm throughout the ring.

Sure, as long as they’re interesting.

why not, at some point star wars crossplay maybe

As long as they’re fun to fight, sure. It’d be fun to see new aliens in Halo.

I think this is a good thing. We should have new enemies to make sure it doesn’t get old.

I’m down for a new species. The galaxy is vast, so there is the potential of introducing more aliens. Could be an opportunity for a new race to ally with humanity.

yes, it might be refreshing. I’m interested.
I miss the Buggers though.

I liked the harbinger more in the few seconds of footage than I did promethean’s through 2 games lol
If it fit’s in well, then new species can be good

Same, they tried to replace them with watchers, and watchers where just evil.

If I remember right the “lore” reason we don’t get buggers anymore is they are actually a peaceful race that was only fighting because the covenant held their queens captive, once high charity fell to the flood they retreated to their homeworld and have pretty much gone “nope” to the rest of the galaxy.

Never liked watchers, even though it was toned down in H5, I still didn’t like them.
I think the skimmers in Infinite seem to be a better compromise, they seem to be fun like grunts

I might be the only person alive who actually liked the Watchers lol. I thought they were the only new enemy in H4 that was actually unique. I believe they are inspired by the Engineers, as a defence unit.
I can see why people find them annoying though

That makes sense, the Banished wouldn’t force people to join them, so it would be kinda weird if they were in Infinite I guess.

I’m with you. Only learnt very recently that people found the Watchers annoying. They were easily my most fun Promethean to fight. They’re not particularly difficult, but you do have to consider how to take them down. If they looked more classic Forerunner/Sentinel, they would have been perfect.

Yay I found a Watcher-fan.
I completely agree about the design.
It would be so cool to see something alike the Watchers as a type of sentinel variant at some point, even if the Prometheans don’t return. Might be unlikely though.

I’m always down for new stuff if obviously done right. The more variation in enemies to fight the better.

I’m all for them bringing in a new species, as long as it’s sufficently unique and interesting to fight and all.
As long as they fit in well to the established canon and the reason we haven’t seen them yet isn’t something ridiculous, I’m for it.

New species aren’t exactly new. There’s always been talk of the mysterious “Meddlers” from the original Trilogy’s terminals, as well as, many times, alien species that were never part of the Covenant being present in the Milky Way. They either just stick to their own things, or are involved in the criminal underworld side of things, or simply never had any interest in meddling with the affairs of the Covenant or Humanity. One notable mention would be the fella from Halo: Nightfall, and a few others in the expanded lore.
