So today I had my first ever disconnects. Two games in a row on Team Arena it disconnected after the match ended as the camera was looking at the Spartans at the end, and now I have been banned. 343 are you taking the piss? I have NEVER ended a game early before today, after 1500 -Yoinking!- games, I get two disconnects and you -Yoinking!- ban me? Well that’s th last -Yoinking!- straw. I’ve put up with your god awful matchmaking (why did I just play against Onyx players exactly?) and frankly abysmal spawn points for long enough. I can’t believe you’d not only ban me for TWO disconnects out of 1500 games, but not even tell me how long? To say I am disgusted is an understatement, this is the thanks I get for never quitting on my team regardless of how bad we do? You’ve just lost yet another player. Pat yourself on the back you complete set of -Yoinks!-.
Dude youve had it easy. Some of us get dc’d plenty every day !
I suppose that’s true, just highlights the problem though cos I have a near flawless connection so I never get disconnects, and I get banned immediately the first time it happens. Are they really unable to tell the difference between quitting and disconnecting? Was really looking forward to playing today as I was away at my brothers wedding all weekend and I’m working from tomorrow onwards 
I didn’t do anything wrong and now I’ll probably kicked from my company for inactivity

I don’t know how long for, as soon as it happened it took out the disc and started playing Halo 3 campaign on MCC, but the gentleman above me says only five minutes and I’ve checked and I am now able to play again, thanks for the info. If my connection is bad today and this happens again, does anyone know the further penalties for disconnects/quits? How many more games need to drop for another ban and how long would it last? I daren’t play again today now, I’m worried about my connection.

I think its like 10/15 mins for two disconnects in a row, but it varies
That doesn’t make much sense. I have disconnected from at least a good 20-30 games and never get banned for it. You should only get banned if you quit a game so I would guess you encountered an error of some sort that caused your ban.

FAQ is about why people are banned. Doesn’t solve the fact that 343i have broken servers that they still haven’t fixed since around December and it certainly hasn’t got any better. Surprised I haven’t got a temp ban from matchmaking yet since 343i’s servers are un-stable since I’ve seen plenty of server side issues.

That link is 343i’s equivalent of a circular file, so they don’t have to address the bigger problem

Yeah, I’ve never experienced more frustrating disconnects with any other game. Most of the time if someone quits a match, 5-10 seconds later I get the “Your console has disconnected from the server” message. It actually banned me and a friend of mine once when someone quit, the game kicked everyone else out and the message appeared for us.
