So I been hearing people say Halo 5’s campaign could be like Halo 2 where the story is two characters rather than one. But instead of switching between Arbiter and Chief, we’re switching between Chief and Locke.
Is this true or just speculation? I actually hope its true.
If it is true, then it would be awesome to see them trying to achieve conflicting goals, such as MC trying to find something whilst Locke races to track down and stop him.
I’m beginning to speculate that not only are we switching between Locke and Chief, but also that Locke and Chief’s story-arcs will take place at different times.
Am I the only one who noticed a glimpse of the E3 2013 trailer in the MCC trailer?

I don’t think that really had anything to do with the story arc. That clip was just to show he was studying Chief.
The Arbiter ditched his Arbiter armor after the war, there is no reason for him to be wearing it by the time Chief is out desert cloak strolling with a cracked visor. He should have been in his fancy gold armor we see in Escalation.
But of course in the trailer he’s in his old armor because that’s how people recognize him (those who haven’t read the comics) and the reason the “Halo: Xbox One” trailer was there is because it’s a fancy CG Chief, and also to remind us of it.
I actually hope so. That is one of the reasons I loved Halo 2; you got to play someone other than Chief and see the story from a different point of view.

I can see this work if periodically we would switch between Thel and Locke for different missions if the two were to do more than just talk about the chief.

Who said They and Locke would spend the entire game together? I imagine all three characters will be meeting with and splitting from each other throughout the plot.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It is essentially you avatar, before Locke walks over to Arby. I was kinda surprised because I thought they were just broadcasting old events that happened.
So now I think we will play as Chief and get to that E3 point early, while Locke is on his way to Sanghelios meet Arby. Still, I want to know how Thel has all these images of Chief considering he was never there. I assume he wasn’t there to see Chief in the desert as well…

Though, before we being speculating the reason on why Thel has pictures of Chief on “the Ark”, let’s keep in mind that this is a teaser trailer and not 100% canon.
You know what would be really funny? If the campaign is purely chief-centric, and Locke only appears in cutscenes. sigh all of that speculation gone down the toilet…
Actually, what if Locke only does appear in cutscenes for much of the campaign, until their stories converge, and then Locke assists you in the second half of the campaign, for whatever reason, alongside The Arbiter. Similar to halo 3, where you had Chief, Arbiter, and Johnson? For some reason, thats how i think it’ll happen.
However, the ideal campaign, for me, would be a multi perspective campaign like ODST. I don’t want it limited to just two characters.
In my honest opinion and speculation, It be the John-117 Arc telling the Master Chief Journey… with Jameson Locke and Thel 'Vadam tracking him…
So mission would start out with Agent and Arbiter, having them find something peculiar which flashes back to what it has to do with the Master Chief… sorta like the Halo 3: ODST transitions.

Yeah lol, I haven’t confirmed this as 100% yet, as it is just a trailer still…
