Are we mature enough yet to admit Controller is overpowered?

I’ve taken a long hiatus from Halo Infinite with all the issues in the game. This week I decided I would go check out the ranked MnK playlist, and found that there’s literally not a single player queueing in matchmaking. Now that MnK has been officially deleted from the game, are we ready to admit that controller aim assist is way too dominant?

Are we ready to add a selector for all gamemodes to play with only 1 input? I’m tired of playing against MnK when ranged. they have better ability for fine movements and aiming than Controller does. If we just allowed the two inputs to self isolate as an option, the game would be healthier

343 has already addressed this and it’s being fixed. They talked about this months ago. Albeit, not it great detail but they have acknowledged that aiming in general is completely jank.

If you want my opinion, you’re better off not trying to play with a mouse until they fully address the issues. You’ll just burn yourself out.

You’ve got to reword your stance or make it clearer. What unbalance is there in the specific MnK only search playlist? Everyone is on MnK.

Must be that user name sir general! salute

Allow me to explain, MnK is so horrid that it’s even hard to aim against other mice unless you’re a really solid player.

Oh wait, he stated ranked MnK. I generally stick to BTB, so that might be why.

So, is that just skill then with MnK then? I can’t stand MnK personally especially since I’ve been playing Halo since CE. Halo CE on PC feels better than infinite.

Well, I tried it with Infinite and it feels like garbage. But so does controller at times so I’m guess it’s a wait to see when they’re gonna tackle aiming. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

MnK is underpowered. That’s something completely different than controller being overpowered.

Honestly aiming just feels like crap across the board. Controller has some wacky AA at times that leaves the reticle sliding past targets, but at certain ranges becomes locked onto targets, and MnK requires extreme precision to be comparable.

It doesn’t help that network has a huge part to play in this. I played on wifi yesterday to do the challenges for the giraffe helmet and I was lucky to get a 5 shot kill with the BR on 17 ping. hop over to training mode and it’s 4shot city.

Game’s inconsistent

Not only is controller not overpowered, it is underpowered compared to every single previous Halo iterations. it feels like absolute poop and the main reason halo on console is dead.

I play on controller and I feel after playing from the beginning taking breaks here and there aim assist/bullet magnetism has got stronger. Although people still miss their shots so the skill gap is still evident. I’m happy with the current state as it’s easy to just pick up and play.

it’s not, instantaneous movement acceleration that only aim assist can track is overpowered.

That’s ranked in general because no one wants to play the terrible playlists. Controller ranked is barely populated at all either.

So compared to past Halos, Infinite has less aim assist by a good margin. Compared to other shooters Infinite has less aim assist. I can’t tell you how many times in COD aim assist has pulled me towards someone i wasn’t even aiming at only for me to die by the person i was trying to hit and that has never happened in Infinite.

Infinite just lends itself to play better on a controller. No momentum in movement allows for changing strafe directions instantly so tracking with a MKB is difficult (not to mention MKB can only strafein 8 predefined directions), no penalty to hip fire means MKB players (in general because pro controllers have trigger switches to be faster) have lost one way they could usually outspeed a controller player by aiming in faster (a mouse click is way faster than a trigger pull and yes this makes a huge deal, i have a Scuf and dang do i win way more fights because i was a fraction of a second fast at aiming in COD), Spartans are relatively big slow targets with lots of health so twitch aiming on a mouse doesn’t really help that much, and since all shots do the same damage until shields are broken there is no reward for pinpoint accuracy on someones head the whole time you are shooting them, only after their shields are broke so controller players don’t have such a hard time aiming at a smaller target most of the time.

Most of the usual edges MKB has over controller are just not relevant in Halo and MKB players just need to get used to that. Instead of arguing for less aim assist on controller argue for some on MKB. If you take away any on controller people will think the game doesn’t have it at all and hate it. Some people curtently think it doesn’t have any aim assist because its so low and in the flights people for sure thought it didn’t have any and it was only marginally lower then as compared to now.

For those of you on controller complaining about aiming feeling terrible in Infinite I would agree but this is due to the default controls. I made a post about how to fix it and make it feel like previous Halo titles:

https://forums.halowaypoint.com/t/need-help-aiming-in-infinite-if-it-feels-off-to-you-try-this-set-up-for-controllers/11780

Hope this helps.

I don’t think anyone’s being immature about this debate. There’s just objectively nothing ‘overpowered’ about controllers, which is why people have stopped taking the topic seriously whenever PC players bring it up.
