Halo 5 theatre is still totally broken, most notably the bug where it replaces everyone’s armor with Recruit. This is appalling and hugely detrimental to Machinima creators like myself. Machinima mode doesn’t help much because I can shoot scenes far more accurately using theater. Is it ever going to get fixed? We’re coming up on three years…
I’d guess at this point 343 is mostly focused on H6. After H6 launches, I bet a good portion of 343 is going to be committed to rapid fixes and updates of that title.
Big changes to H5 are probably going to be few and far between for the foreseeable future I think. I mean, for reference, the MCC was released in November 2014 and finally has some dedicated teams working to make changes to it…with a big update planned for this summer…4 years later.
You’re telling me…I’m glad the changes are coming but damn, it’s late.
I was wondering when somebody’d bring this topic of Theater up, I thought i was the only one being bugged by this

Unfortunately, I think Viper is right about this. With the next Halo title in the pipeline plus the massive efforts on MCC, we should probably make realistic expectations for how much effort 343 can afford to put towards the theater situation.
I will say, OP, I completely agree with you. It’s ridiculous that theater was broken for so long and still isn’t completely fixed.
I keep telling myself that 343 has learned from all the backlash on releasing an incomplete game and the next Halo title will be nice and polished on release knocks on wood.

To be fair, my wife will probably tell you that I’m often wrong…maybe I’ll be wrong in this case too
But yeah, NightClerk, I agree with you, I keep hoping and hoping 343 learns from their mistakes. I don’t ever expect anyone or any company to be perfect, but you have to see what you haven’t done right and try to get better.
OF Course in our dreams!!!
Maybe the team working on MCC will get to Halo 5 once they’re done with most of the big updates. I’d like to see that happen. Halo 5’s UX with menus and stuff is horrible and easily the worst of any of the games.
Two and a half years into it, I wouldn’t expect it. Not now, not ever. I’m no machinima maker (though I know some that are), but I’d just stick to whatever there is currently available, be it good quality or not.
BTW, good to see you on here. Loved your Reach works back in the day.

Thank you Wraith! I hope you will find my other works enjoyable as well. I’ve gotten a lot better since 2011/2012!
