This is a topic based on a post on another topic. I really think Innovation in Halo has to work to these Guidelines:
-
Stick with Core Mechanics of the Human-Covenant war trilogy
-
Add upon, improve or implement extra features on these Mechanics
-
Add new Game Types not in other games, or similar but with more depth
-
Bring Back Firefight, and Expand it
-
Keep Adding options to Forge, Custom Games and AESTHETIC CUSTOMIZATION
With those in mind, Here is some Ideas I came up with that follow them.
Innovative Features:
Innovative in gaming is no longer “something new”, but something “similar, with our twist”. This is not necessarily a bad thing. A different version of something gives a player multiple things to try, until they have what they want. So what if Halo did this, but in one game? That’s innovation. Halo’s defining feature. The level of customization within it’s already numerous features. Custom Games, File Browser, Forge, Matchmaking and Aesthetics. We shouldn’t Change, we should EXPAND. How about extending our level of gametypes in custom games to Firefight? 10 different versions of a Survival Game Mode in one game? what game has that? and extra customization for each of those? Holy Excrement!
Here’s a link to one of my ideas for this system:

Loadouts:
In-fitting with the Traditional Game-play, Loadouts HAVE to reflect it. By doing this, I mean everyone has the same choice of weapons from the beginning, no perks, AT ALL, AAs on map, reflecting Equipment of Halo 3*, No PoDs, at least in multiplayer, AT ALL.
This Idea of “Split Playlists” between Classic Ranked and Social, and Infinity cannot work. For it to, the game would need to release with around 24-30 maps, 12-15 for each style, due to compensating for the VERY different play-style of the two variants. The amount of work put into this would severely impact other aspects of the game, unless your willing for 5-6 years between games. This group of “Pro-Infinity” supporters should take a long look at their argument of “don’t like this? Play Halo 3”. You guys are in the minority, a very small minority. How about we get our old style back, and YOU play Halo 4?
seem harsh? Tough. That’s the truth be told facts. Infinity setting lower the skill gap almost WORSE than Call of Duty, another of Halo’s once defining features.
Forge:
Quite simple, multiple GOOD canvas maps, to lower FPS drops. More pieces, not less, with changeable skin options between UNSC variant, Covenant Variants, Forerunner Variants and Natural Variants. e.g:
UNSC: Buildings, Grimy, Spacecraft Interior, Damaged.
Covenant/Storm: Building, Dirty, Spacecraft Interior, Damaged.
Forerunner/Promethean: Building, Dirty, Spacecraft Interior, Damage.
Natural: Rocks, Ground, Grass/Mossy Surface/Decor, Dirt Surface/Decor, Snowy Surface/Decor, Sand Surface/Decor.
We need these in Forge, and weather effects to match them.
Ranking System:
A split system, of a True Skill style, but much more reliable, and a separate customization level. This Customization Level is XP progression Based, and works similar to reaches system, but isn’t your rank. With Unlocks such as:
Helmet (and Decor and Visor Color)
Torso (and Decor)
Shoulders (and Decor)
Gauntlets (and Decor)
Greaves (and Decor)
Knife Selection, each with their own different set of Assassinations, with the final Knife unlock giving you the ability to select your favorite Assassinations of the other sets onto the custom knife.
Spartan Effects 1: Inclement Weather, Flaming Head, Pestilence etc.
Spartan Effects 2: Birthday Party, Hearts etc.
Spartan Voice: Halo 3/Reach/4 Spartans, Elite SFX on your Spartan
Kill Effects: Disintegration(+Color) Assassinations, Head Shots etc.
Weapon Skins
Weapon Effects: Confetti Frags, Rainbow LR etc.
All the fun we could have with the above! also, we can then USE this in game! Call Out configurations to identify players quickly!
I would love to hear you insights, so vote away!
