It wouldn’t surprise me if that was true. There’s like a 3 hour window from about 7-10pm Japanese time where a reasonable amount of games are alright pingwise, but outside of that it’s pretty bad.
Had to check Google maps…but yeah, those 3 servers I mentioned are definitely your best bet so I would filter out any others using the router scripts available online if you don’t have Geo Filter on your router.
Also if the player base if anything like COD then you may benefit from connecting to those servers as skill level is notoriously lower in those areas…so Social playlists may be a different experience compared when connecting to US servers.
Yea but sometimes I play Ranked.
I can’t help but feel I would perform a little better in Ranked if I had a decent ping. But I also don’t want to possibly wait for 5 minutes for a match connecting to Japanesw servers.

That makes sense and is consistent with what I’ve said…evening hours are obviously always the busiest in any location and you will find this even more so from now on for week days as ppl return back to work after the Christmas holidays. I used to call midnight the “witching hour” for Halo5 as there would be a clear and obvious degradation in connection quality until the point that you couldn’t even find a game on Focused search from about 1am…and then you end up getting matched with Mexicans and Brazilians when you widen the search filter!

Test it out. I have no way of knowing if there are different ranking/skill level parameters based on location…it wouldn’t at all surprise me if this was the case.

Yeah, after 10pm I get thrown onto EU servers a lot. For the other Halo games and Destiny it was mainly Brazilian servers around that time of day.

I meant advantage of halo being on console for the company. Not compared to PC. Also, the pc doesn’t have the same “rights”. You guys are manipulating settings for your benefit which console players can’t. Console is an even playing field and PC gaming is full of cheaters. Personally, I think online gaming on PC is trash in general because of this and different hardware, different game experiences, etc. But at the same time, consoles have turned into this with different Xbox’s/Playstations.
Well I hope they can fix it cuz it’s not enjoyable having such irregular latency in ranked matches or just in general.
im getting constant servers with 30 ms ping… but it’s a 50/50 chance if it feels like it. Like almost every halo, the netcode sucks balls. And im not even talking about the tickrate problem…

Not true, not true and not true. There’s cheating on xbox too, cronus zen and things like that
And how is being able to choose a server manipulating the game? The game shouldn’t match me or anybody else in EU with people outside the eu and vice versa for people in the US , on a foreign server. It’s 343’s fault, they have a bad algorithm for choosing players in matchmaking
It’s not going away.
343 can’t and won’t fix it, since it’s a windows “problem”… or a blessing. Unless microsoft removes the ability to block whichever servers you want from windows 10/11 on your pc, just to please some angry console players, it won’t ever be fixed. And even if this “exploit” gets patched, smart people will buy a router with geo filtering and the same thing will happen again
