So is there teamkilling/betrayals in Halo 4? Not that I teamkill or anything. I’m just wondering what the default Infinity Slayer stance is.
Yes, hopefully.
I’m pretty sure betrayals is in Halo 4. Having friendly fire on in Halo has always been a mechanic for halo, and i doubt it would be removed.
Yeah, I imagine so. The only gametype I see that may not allow betrayels is flood mode. Seeing how they took out the ability to betray someone in the Living Dead playlist in Reach.
Ugh, here we go again. Hopefully, there are some better penalties for betrayers and a better system in place for booting for betrayls. I hate how random it is in Reach. It should just be a basic 3 strikes your out system. The betrayls and you get booted.
I think there will be, sadly.
Yes, I know. But I just don’t like friendly fire.

Im cool with firendly fire, but I dont like the current booting system for betrayls they have in Reach. Its totally random. Id like a more solid system. Betray X number of times and youre out. Id say go for 3 betrayls and you get booted.
Sometimes, you need to be able to kill a teammate. For example: A noob has the sniper, hes wasting it and is totally SUCKING with it. Killing him and relieving him of it is the only option to try and keep your team from losing a good power weapon.
There better be betrayals in Halo 4. Then again I wouldn’t be surprised if they took it out. 343 has kind of made a habit out of messing with tried and true classic Halo gameplay mechanics so far with Halo 4.

You have to start somewhere. A new player is never going to learn how to use a sniper rifle if someone like you betrays them for it.

You do realize that people like you are the reason that alot of other people want teamkilling out of the game?
Anyways, IMO friendly fire should be in, or at least explosives damage only. Otherwise people could just chuck nades blindly into a corridor that’s full of teammates, which will lead to disorientation and potentially death for those teammates.

I personally think a ‘2-betrayals and you’re out’ system is the best. However, behavior like this makes me want there to be a boot option on the first, and every, betrayal.
I think normal rifle bullets/melee shouldn’t damage your teammates. Some people betray you just so they can have your sniper rifle.
Friendly fire is an important part of how Halo works.
Imagine your team mate has the flag and you are in a Banshee. You could just rape your friend with plasma bombs, killing anyone who came to take the flag, but leaving your friend unharmed.
That would suck.
The betrayal system does need a rehaul from Reach. Acts like meleeing a team mate or shooting them in the head are pretty obvious betrayals.
On the other hand, splash damage from a power weapon is more accidental, but should not be excused, and should still have penalties.

While I have been in a situations where another player was inadequate with a power weapon, betrayal shouldn’t be a punishment. You’d be negatively impacting the game.
Betrayals are still here.
I -Yoinking!- hope so, I also hope they have a boot system that works.
(this is also my first ever post on this forum, I think…)
edit. no it’s not! lawd, what have I done…

sigh.

Wow, with your logic, I’d shoot you down everytime you’d touch the sniper rifle. Because obviously I am superior when it comes to sniping. Would you be willing to die everytime, for teams sake? I highly doubt that.
It’s -Yoink- like you, why friendly fire should be off when it comes to obviously intentional betrayals.
Personally as much as people believe that having friendly fire on helps to keep players to control their grenades/heavy weaponry/vehicle fire, I don’t really see this restraint very often, more often that not, what kills me in a game with random team mates are my team mates, either intentionally betraying me for weapons, for fun or accidentally with overly spammed grenades.
People are going to react to this pretty badly I’m sure but personally I think that removing Friendly Fire altogether is a better option than this tried-and-tested failed system that is in place with betrayal booting and ‘restraint’. It failed in Halo 2, it failed in Halo 3, it failed in Halo: Reach, just remove it already and remove a big amount of frustration from the game.
