Are There Any Underrated Armor Abilities?

I stick with the thruster pack and promethean vision in general. They are the best, hands-down. Thruster pack has saved my life SOO many times it’s almost unfair, and promethean vision is insanely useful on CQC maps like the Majestic map pack.

I have an extra loadout though that I’m not sure what to use, and I want to use something different.

I already have a great jet pack loadout. I’m not too fond of camo, though I guess it’s useful in BTB. I also don’t think auto-sentry is worth my time.

How about regeneration field? is it worth a shot?

Oh and please don’t mention hardlight shield. I don’t like it.

As a Pro-Regen user, I love it and use nothing else really.

It helps a lot with low shielded teammates hiding to regen or when you need to duck down and get shields instead of just plain out running away.

Regen has saved my life countless times and Teammates lives.

My Loadout for it is:
-LR
-Boltshot
-Pulse nade
-Regen Field
-AA Efficiency
-Dexterity

This is my basic “Healer” loadout I use 90% of the time. Mostly for Team games.

Just a note, YOUR Regend field also heals enemies. The bubble zone itself is neutral.

Hardlight shield is actually a lot better than most people give it credit for. As long as you have a teammate to back you up, the other guy shooting you is pretty screwed. And it’s good for getting behind cover while avoiding damage.

Regen Field is okay for a support class, but sometimes it doesn’t heal teammate’s shields for whatever reason, and the start up time is pretty slow.

Most underrated is hard-light due to the a majority of the communities idea that it can only be used for running when really I’ve destroyed tanks stopped Bolt shot campers/Melee people and anyone that just uses the Noob combo with it. People whine because of runners but really that mostly applies to people who use DMR or BR from long range close up with AR and someone who knows of the obvious weaknesses the Hardlight shield opens up with its use can take care of someone who uses it.

Of course, it’s not as good as is equipment counterpart in Halo 3, but if you want to be a team player, Regen Field + AA Efficiency is definitely the way to go. Helps a LOT in team slayer. Even if you just use it for yourself, it’s quite good. Just don’t pop one out while you’re being shot at.

Autosentry combined with the BR will make you the king at mid to close range combat :

This is the loadout/strategy I use with the Autosentry AA :

  • Battle Rifle, Magnum, Frag Grenades, Autosentry, Resupply, Explosives
  • Works best on maps like Adrift. The Battle Rifle is the only other Precision Rifle that can kill in 4 shots, but only with help. This loadout, IMO, truly makes the Battle Rifle the mid range king. Using the Frag Grenades combined with Explosives will easily deal enough damage to allow the Battle Rifle to kill in 4 shots. If you run out of grenades and there aren’t any around or if there are some around but they are contested, use the Autosentry turret because it will still do enough damage to allow the Battle Rifle to kill DMR users in 4 shots.

I am mostly a hologram user, but jet pack makes an appearance occasionally. If I had to pick one, it would be hologram. I’m always amazed at how many people attack before looking. Or thinking, for that matter. Hours of entertainment

Gonna go with Autosentry on this one.

I already posted my opinion on why Autosentry is a great AA in another topic, but in short, if used defensively, the one or two shots it connects with can tip the scale in your favor in most DMR/BR fights, especially 1v1. Because it flares red whenever an enemy is targeted, it serves as another means to find tricky opponents. It promotes a lock-down-this-area type of gameplay, but for maps with clear power positions like Abandon and Adrift, it does an excellent job.

Of course, I do love my Hologram. <3

Hologram, a very useful AA. It also trains you to notice errors from enemy holo-users.

They are all underrated. They are all overrated.

The point of AA’s and their modifiers is that you can use them to enhance they way you play. If I tell you I like a particular configuration and loadout, that would be little help to you because I know we are different ages and have different Halo experience. I’m willing to bet what works for me will not work as well for you.

Everyone will eagerly tell you what works for them and what they thing sucks. Have fun trying to make up your mind based on THAT information. You have to figure out what’s going to help you stay alive, get more kills, and let’s you be useful for your team. I happen to think that Promethean Vision is useless, but others depend on it. Why? I don’t know, but if it’s helping them kill ME then there’s no way I’m going to convince them it serves no purpose.

You just have to acquire and use everything available until you find a combination that is compatible with the way you play. The search is part of the fun.

Hologram and Hardlight Shield. No one uses the HS even though it’s extremely effective.

The AAs in H4 are very versatile. But I’d have to say Thruster Pack is the most underrated, with Hardlight Shield coming second.

Auto-Sentry is quite useful in the Extraction playlist.
I’ve added AA Efficiency to my loadout.

The Thruster Pack is my go-to AA.

Also, Hardlight Shield is actually very useful.
But only in BTB or while playing on large maps.
