I’m really undecided as to whether or not to purchase the map packs?
No because you won’t get to play them.
Yes, just play the premium playlists then. Better credits there too.
Yes, here’s why:
Tempest, Breakpoint and Highlands are all very solid big team maps. Tempest has the man cannons and base style similar to Valhalla from H3 and the sandy beach aesthetic of Relic from H2. Breakpoint shares the snowy, Forerunner vibe of H3’s Avalanche but is reminiscent of Rat’s Nest in the sense that you can pretty much keep driving around in an endless path. Though Highlands might be considered the most boring from how symmetrical it is, the symmetry is a bit of a call-back to H3’s Standoff and the mountainous, alpine feel brings up Valhalla again. The indoor maps Anchor 9 and Condemned are both great for close quarters slayer and objectives like bomb and CTF. Anchor 9, being like H3’s The Pit, has the perfect symmetry and both it and Condemned include a low gravity section which mixes up the gameplay pace. Great maps overall IMO.
Also, the Premium playlists do give more cR and hopefully the DLC will be in more widespread playlists like BTB and Team Slayer soon, especially considering Reach’s one year anniversary is coming up.
I personally like the Defiant over the Noble pack, but I don’t regret buying either package. If you have the extra money, I’d say yeah its worth it. If you are unsure and want to buy just one, I’d go for the Defiant Map Pack.
They are better then every stock reach map aside from zealot.
Buy it
Agree, save Zealot, the DLC maps are the best in the game. Well, Tempest kinda sucks but other than that.
> No because you won’t get to play them.
They are some pretty good maps but this is kinda true unfortunately. I want to play Highlands 8v8 so badly but it NEVER comes up in BTB.

This.
The maps themselves are really good. I’d even go as far as saying that maps like Highlands, Breakpoint, and Anchor 9 are the best maps we have in Reach. But if you’re hoping to play them in regular playlists (i.e. not in Premium Slayer/Battle) more than maybe once or twice a month, you’re going to be disappointed. And I don’t mean once or twice per map, but in total.
The noble map pack worths 800msp but the defiant map pack is garbage…
Yeah, I say they’re worth a buy.
In my experience, you’ll get Anchor 9 quite a bit…but Breakpoint and Tempest are almost completely exclusive to the Premium Playlists. Tempest as another Forge heavy map helps to make the pack a little more lucrative.
The same goes for the Defiant Maps, you’ll see Unearthed every time you go into Score Attack, and quite a bit in Arcade, but you’ll rarely see Condemned or Highlands.
Only buy the map packs if you party up with people who own them, really need another Firefight map (for Defiant), really want another Forge map (for Noble), like playing the Premium Playlists, or if you just generally want more maps.
Anchor 9, Tempest, and Highlands are all three awesome maps, but just reiterating what the others said, you’ll barely play them. My friends and I love playing Team and Squad Squad Slayer, but Anchor 9 is about the most you’ll get out of those. Tempest is on Snipes a lot.
If you have a few friends that have the maps and plan on playing the Premium playlists, then yes. Otherwise you’ll buy them and end up playing crap maps.
No, you can’t play them and also they won’t change Reach’s broken gameplay so… no. Wait till CEA.
Let’s say YES buy them.
If you don’t buy them and others decide not to buy them simply because they’re great maps but no one has them, so no one plays them… then no one will buy them and no one will play them.
Geeesh, work with me here. Yes buy them and play them in the Premium list when ever you want and hope to hell they come up in regular gameplay.

They won’t. Ever.

Except for when they are, which is like… ALL THE TIME.
So buy them.
Buy them now.

You’re mean, mean people! Trying to get him to waste his money in the hopes that it might mean you didn’t waste yours. For shame!
Shakes head and walks away

I… uhm… am not sure what to say…
You wanna hug dude? You wanna join me in MM tonight where I’ll be playing the premium playlist with my friends and not worrying about who did or who didn’t buy it?
What do you want? Just because YOU don’t like Reach doesn’t mean that someone who does shouldn’t enjoy these maps.
Besides, it’s the sales $ from these things that makes new maps and TU’s possible. Show your support, bro.
I think the DLC maps are the best and most consistent Slayer DMR maps in the game by far, and all are fairly good for objective gametypes (save Condemned IMO). Breakpoint is also a good invasion map since it’s relatively hard to set up a spawn camp on either side in my experience. I don’t play firefight much.
