Are the Prometheans going to be fun this time?

Because I’m playing through halo 4 right now and I forgot how much they suck to fight, They aren’t fun at all. The dogs are just annoying, the knights are bullet sponges, and the watchers might be the worst enemy ever created… Why create a unit that flies away and hides:(?

Based on what I’ve seen from the E3 demo, no. The new Soldier class doesn’t look to be any more interesting to fight.

I think they will be. The soldiers will ‘replace’ the Knights and the Knights will be stronger than in 4, but be more rare. Soldiers seem like a more agile, faster, but weaker enemy type that resembles Brutes and Elites while Knights will be closer to hunters this time around. I just hope there’s going to be less of those annoying flying things (watchers?)

I think watchers would be fine if they made them fragile. The problem was even watchers were bullet sponges.

Really I see the 3 key things to fixin prometheans are

  1. Introducing a lighter, general purpose class (we now have that in the warrior).
  2. Make watchers more fragile. Either by giving them a more obvious weak-spot or just making them outright weaker.
  3. Make knights not invincible while teleporting. Bullet sponge + escape features aren’t fun to fight, its like all the problems of sprint on steroids. Instead it should be a weak point, their armor’s literally phasing to elsewhere, there should be vulnerabilities.

I don’t really find the dogs much of a problem. They die in a head-shot, and their head are clearly communicated.

Maybe make em easier to take out (on Legendary). Those things took 4-5 shots from a DMR/Pistol to go down

The only good thing about the implementation of the soldiers is that they don’t have shields, so even if you fail to kill them, the ammunition expended is completely wasted. Apart from that, the soldiers appear to rival the Halo 4 Knights in their ability to soak up damage, so It looks like it’s going to be pretty much the same, unfortunately.

Personally I feel the thing that made the promethans more of a chore was simply their lack of reaction to being shot, and the fact they all looked incredibly similar to each other. Elites always feel like theres some variety to how they will behave and engage, but with the Prometheans they felt samey, even when they weren’t.

Given the animation changes, and the fact that we get soldiers, keepers (Is that their name?), (knights? I haven’t seen any yet though) and the dogs should shake things up considerably when it comes to them. Especially now that the keeper dudes seem to have a personality. Halo 4 I felt really alone in Halo 4 because of the emptiness the prometheans gave off.
