As far as we know, they’re permanent. The only times they’ve released “temporary” helmets/skins were e-sports packs but those weren’t even new, they were just re-skinned variants of existing armor.
What’s the point of charging money if they leave them around long enough for every swinging -Yoink- to just get them through points. There’s no profit, there. If it’s limited time, then the people who don’t have the points are incentivized to purchase it
If they do drop into the req pool, then props to 343’s management for not being greedy.
To be fair about the whole REQ points and money thing, you all did have a fair amount of time to rack up the necessary amount of points for the pack.
They announced the pack in December and it will release today, almost mid February. That’s about two months to gain 150000, which isn’t tough at all.
I can’t imagine they would be limited time. Like Omeggos said whenever they make a brand new armor it’s always here to stay. It’s extremely rare for them to be limited time, that only happened twice with the Challenger and Athlon Champion, and even then there will likely be a chance to get those two from another e-sports pack later on. They already gave us more than one shot to get Champion. But anyways, that’s what, two out of two hundred? Seems like decent odds.
I don’t think 343 will be that greedy with the classic helmets. They could’ve pulled a limited time stunt like this when the Memories of Reach gear came out but they didn’t. They put the Reach pack in the store for the people who couldn’t wait and we’re willing to spend money to get that sweet gear right away, but they still made it possible for most of us to grind for them. The Voices of War pack makes me concerned that they may go that route and not drop them in the regular REQ pool. Maybe because they’re just helmets and not full sets of armor they could be considered premium content like Voices, but if they did something similar there, then at least Voices is permanent so maybe the helmets one will be too. If it’s permanent in the store then the point cost is no worry even if you haven’t been saving.
And even if they don’t drop in the pool right away, many speculate that eventually the body armors to these helmets will come out in another update. Once they become complete sets of armor I think at that point they will go in the pool. And if I’m wrong about all this and they start making players pay for more and more of the new content, then they’ll have broken they’re promise to the players and will get called out on it and people will stop playing not only out of frustration, but because it will get stale without new stuff. We were told that was the deal, if we put up with the REQ system then we get the DLC and updates for free. If they don’t hold up their end and start charging for all the new stuff, considering the reputation they already sort of have among some players, that would be a PR blow that I don’t think they could come back from. I think they know if they have one more major mistake they’re gonna get eaten alive by the community. Lately it seems they have become aware of this and working harder to gain a reputation for actually listening to the fans and trying to please them. I don’t think they’re dumb enough to sully their rep just when it’s starting to improve. So I’m optimistic about the classic helmets.
Personally I don’t mind one way or the other. I play enough and pay enough attention to have access to the armor when it is available. I am of the belief that releasing everything and keeping nothing exclusive lessens the value of the armor.

Not forever though. I believe it was the first 15 maps will be free. So they have lived up to their side of the bargain. And all the armor has been “free”. Just because they might not be in the Req pool at some point doesn’t change that.

It’s not necessarily false info. MOR had a pack release with some of the armors in it. Granted those armors were also in the pool, the pack gave you instant access.
It’s not crazy to think eventually they’ll be added in the req pool down the road, 6+ months or so.

Nothing has been confirmed so yes, at this point in time, saying “they’ll be added to REQ pool” is absolutely false information. This pack is different than past packs.

probably so that people buy them right away if they don’t have the req for it. The fear they might suddenly be gone and you’ll never get them again would make people want them even more. I think they’re going to be around for a while though.

Gotcha… I was looking at it from a different perspective. I will just blow some of my endless RP that I’ve accumulated and wouldn’t even have to worry about them being promotional.
