The thing that bothers me a lot is the terrible AI with the marines even though enemy AI is actually good, marines for some reason can’t seem to fire their weapon and they end up trying to get them selves killed intentionally, it makes me wonder how they even got into the UNSC military in the first place. So are the marines that hard on dying or are they just stupid?
If they were as good as the enemy AI they would be tearing through everyone and leaving nothing for the player to kill nor would the game be a challenge if they were doing all of the work for you. I believe they were intentionally made that way for that reason but I wouldn’t call them stupid even though some of their behavior may appear as though they are, put simply it is just for gameplay purposes, if marines behaved like that in real life then I doubt they would make it very far within the corps.
Hahaha yeah, the bar for entry into the UNSC seems pretty low! It might be nice if they had the same AI quality as the enemies but just lower their damage output. At least then it would look like they knew what they were doing! lol

It was certainly intentional. The dialogue paints them out to be scared and losing their minds. I guess the idea is that they are the well trained elite that have just buckled under the panic the Covenant instill. I’m cool with that

What’s really funny is that the marines are great when it comes to H5 warzone when it’s the other team and you trying to capture!! 
But yh H4 the Maine’s were a nightmare! And surprisingly H5 Campaign!
