Does anyone think that the map-packs are worth it? Should I wait for more, if there is more? Why or why not?
The defiant map pack is definitely worth it, the noble map pack is not as good but is still all right.
‘Unearthed’ is the only good firefight map in the game that is included in the defiant map pack. Installation 04 will be better though. Get both if you have the Microsoft.
Both are fantastic DLC IMO. Noble, graphically, feels much different and updated. Everything seems more colorful and polished than your basic maps. Tempest is perfect map if you’re an all-around player, Anchor Nine is more of a CQC style map but has enough room to move around, and Breakpoint is generally a good invasion and BTB map that has more of a direct game play style.
Defiant has the same graphics as the basic maps but still is enjoyable. Highlands is another good map that caters to many play styles and feels like Hemorrage/Paradiso than anything. Unearthed is an okay FF map, a little over hyped (only 1 warthog, not exactly vehicle orinated as advertised) most of the action is around the center and is a smaller FF map. Condemmed is another good space map, it feels much like swordbase in which the first few times play times, you could get lost.
I’m not really an expert of advice but I say atleast look up gameplay up on youtube.
–Noble Map pack—
I like how Anchor 9 is set up.
I have no feelings for Tempest.
I love Breakpoint, CTF, Assault, and invasion play AMAZINGLY well in this map.
—Defiant—
I like Condemned… it’s a good medium sized map and is good for slayer, which I love.
Highlands is nice… definitely for sniping… vehicles… stuff like that… I like it.
Unearthed is a really nice firefight map, definitely one of the best.
Defiant has some really nice skyboxes too…
no because you never play them outside of their specific playlists.
I actually think Noble was so-so, but Defiant impressed me.
A plus was that I got Defiant for free thanks to Waypoint.
I like them.
As much as i love the design of the maps… i never get to play them outside of the premium playlists. Even then there are other maps in there that arnt from the two packs.
I bought the Defiant pack when it was on sale for $5 with leftover Bing rewards. I guess it’s really only worth it if you do that since both are pretty much playlist exclusive (you hardly ever get them in regular playlist) - that is, unless you have $20 to spare.
> no because you never play them outside of their specific playlists.
Yeah, because everyone’s always saying NO
so since no one has them, no one plays them.
I want what Bungie promised… that you’d get matched with people who also had the maps… but in order to do that you need more people to have them.
I’m pushing for the defiant map pack because I love slayer on Condemned and I’m pushing for the Noble map pack because I love Breakpoint.
I think both map packs are worth buying.
Noble is a little more specialized:
-
Tempest is a great map, and a MUST HAVE if you are into Forging at all, since it is the only map other than Forge World that allows you to use a complete forge pallet.
-
Breakpoint is the best Invasion map in the game.
-
Anchor 9… I hate to say it, but I think Anchor 9 is the worst map in Reach. Just my personal taste there. Still, the Noble pack has a lot to offer.
Defiant is INCREDIBLE.
-
Highlands is the best BTB map in the game.
-
Condemned is the best Team Slayer map in the game.
-
Unearthed is the best Firefight map in the game.
Definitely buy the Defiant pack. You’ll love it
It really depends on if you’re a big Halo fan and if you’ll play in the DLC playlist (you won’t play very much DLC outside of the DLC playlists). All the maps in the DLC are quality maps. Highlands, off the Defiant Pack, is the best Big Team map I’ve played since Blood Gulch on Halo:CE (I actually like it better than Blood Gulch now). But there are also small maps, like Condemned and Anchor 9, that allow for close quarter fighting. Overall, I do not regret buying these maps at all. These two packs have some of the maps Reach (and Halo) has to offer.
