Played about 500 ranked matches. I experience same issues like @M1STA_WU1FY
Play 4 ranked matches, low ping, get good team mates, all 4 matches won. The next 3-4 matches, same evening, high ping, one was 240 ms ping (not joking). Another match there was one team mate with a total of 50 matches played. He went 3/15, im a platinum 4. Why does this shuffle maker (match making) system put me at once in higher ping matches and put me with absolute beginners in a team?
For me it seems that is done on purpose. The system wants to keep me by my MMR, but there is no sense in this behavior. Its unrewarding, people lose interest in halo infinite.
It’s very easy. Your ping is towards the server, not towards the other player. The ping towards the other player is your ping + his ping.
If you have 50 ms ping and play against someone else who has 200 ping, it takes 250 ms before an action of one player shows up on the screen to the other.
So if you move from a door opening to cover, that movement takes 50 ms to go from your screen to the server and then another 200 ms to get to the screen of that other player.
Shots register as long as on the screen of the player that shoots you are still visible.
So if you move behind cover it takes 250 ms before you are actually in cover on that other players screen. So if he shoots 240 ms later, he still sees you. That shot then also has to be sent to your screen, wich takes another 250 ms. So you only see that shot 490 ms after you moved behind cover. That is why it looks like he is shooting through a wall.
At the same time, if the roles were reversed and you shoot someone just before he gets behind cover on your screen, your shot would look like it’s going through the wall for him, because it only registers on his screen almost 500 ms after he gets behind cover.
So yes, you too are ‘shooting through walls’, since that is only seen on the screen of the player on the receiving end and not the one shooting.
And it also doesn’t matter what your personal ping is, it matters what the combined ping is of you and your opponent. So if your ping is very low, but his is very high, you will both see shots that appear to be going through a wall reguraly. Only is both pings are very low you would hardly see it happen.
I’m not shooting through walls because my ping is rarely over 40. It’s the people with high ping who have super powers evidently. Based on what you’re saying you can cheat the game by having high ping because you become harder to damage but you can shoot people through walls more effectively
That you don’t have a high ping doesn’t matter, it’s the total ping of both players that matter.
And no, they don’t have superpowers, because higher ping doesn’t mean they see you longer, because you dissapear later behind a wall, but he also started to see you later to start with. The time he has to shoot you (or you him) is exactly the same. And as already said: it’s the total ping of both players combined that matters, so his ping towards you is exactly the same as your ping to him. The ping displayed on your screen is only the ping to the server, not to the enemy.
The position of the server does matter ofcourse, but only to a degree. If you would live in Germany and the other player in the UK, it doesn’t matter if the server is in your backyard, in his backyard or for instance in The Netherlands (in between), since the delay between the two of you would be the same. The same as someone from Germany and New York would face off against each other, it doesn’t matter if that is on the Amsterdam server of a New York server. The delay between them would be the same.
However, if two EU-players face each other on a US server, that ofcourse would make the delay way worse them if they did that on an EU-server.
That you have a low ping doesn’t guarantee that you will not encouter serious delays, since it could still mean there are players in that match that have high pings. It probably does mean that most players are from your own area, so most players you won’t have that much delay with (except when they have bad internet ofcourse), but you could still have players from other continents in your match.
Its a 2 way street. I’ve had matches where i know im getting undeserved kils as I shoot someone who clearly went around the corner but somehow i get the kill marker as my reticle followed the player into the wall, and matches where I’m the one yelling at my screen for my 4th shot not counting, melee not counting, being shot behind walls, grenades following me for what feels like an entire dang minute before exploding (exaggerating to illustrate the frustration of course) etc.
Im on a series S. Friends of mine swear I’m at a big disadvantage because of this, then some on pc say console is at an advantage (they’re using same input as me though) then same friends in the same group saying pc has all the advantages and somehow has more aim assist on game pad…
I can’t speak for none of that. Only that ive read some of what you wrote here, and definitely dealt with some of those frustrations. My accuracy can be god tier stat wise in a match where somehow the enemies just arent dying as i keep getting 4 shot, no trade…and at the end of the match their accuracy is in the low 40s while mine over 60%…and THEN…matches where i feel like i have the sloppiest aim ever…but im killing people left and right. That’s a reply to you the reply where you’re saying “ever wonder”
Yea man. I do wonder! Its frustrating!
I can’t think of any time I’ve ever gotten one of those personally though, which is my point. Like I can’t shoot a wall and it kill someone, they just get away if I can’t finish them
It’s not very common at all, its more common to be the one being shot behind walls, but I can honestly say that yes I’ve also been the one to get that unfair kill.
The common things I experience are
- desync
- being put in matches constantly over 100 ping if I choose to play alone
- packet loss unstable error (the worst problem that seems to happen the most for me)
- matches where my ping rate spikes 50-100 fluctuation.
I can literally load my own custom game…and the ping sits at 50 for a moment, goes up to 120, to 80, to 50, back to 120. I end the match. Open custom again. Solid 21, 22 ping rate. All while playing alone in my own custom bot match. I don’t get it. I’m hard lined…internet has been refreshed…network statistics all looking good…open nat…latency is fine…0 packetloss…good up and down speeds…its so dang annoying.
One way 343 can cheat players rank is to increase shield if a player is playing really bad.
Another way would be lower the damage values of your weapons lol
I doubt this is happening but just imagine if it was hahahahahahaha
Ive witenessed the BS first hand, in 3 matches in a row. My first few matches were fine, normal for both teams. Then I started to notice how my nades werent contecting. Spammed 2 in a room with one guy, went in to finish him off and boop, i was dead in a few shots and a melee. Next match, same thing. Spammed my nades, went in for the kill and bam, dead again. I believe the game is rigging your weapon and melee damage if your first few matches are good. I was blown up by a hail mary. My other 3 team mates were hit too, but i was the only one to die. This is why ive quit playing for a while. Im okay with winning some and losing some based on skill, but the shear fact this is real thing that is being done so other players of less skill can have a chance of getting the same BS xp we all get per match, i will not put up with. 343i has literally spit in our faces. And for what? I know how to play Halo? Because some kid whose never played before is gonna have bad self esteem because they lost?? Nah man. Nut up or shut up. If I had to crawl through 50ft of S!@# 15 years ago to get where im at now, kids these days can too. Its a game, not the end of the world.
I find the best way to create fair and balance matches is to;
-
Grab a sheet of aluminium foil from the kitchen. Scrunch it small dome and wear it like a beanie. Don’t forget to leave a little gap for the headphones so you can still hear what is going on.
-
Burn some incense. Personally I like cinnamon. But if you use citronella based ones you can double up on using it as a mosquito repellent. The idea is you need to project a consistent level of calm. 343 can sense your emotions (good or bad) and use them against you in matching your next game.
-
Quartz crystals. These are the best for absorbing electromagnetic waves. If you wrap the internet cables around a large quartz crystal you can minimise incoming bad data (which they use to create desync) and reduce packet loss!
We can’t let 343 win.
Why doesn’t desync happen in BTB like it does in Ranked?
Have you ever thought about it?
No I hadn’t.
Does desync actually not happen in BTB?
I know that lag does. Get shot around corners all the time.
As for desync - I would imagine that it’s more stable because BTB runs at half the server tick rate to Arena. That extra time probably allows PC and the range of Xboxes to sync and behave.
It plays a lot better than ranked generally, even with the amount of people playing and their higher ping average.
I barely ever get shot through walls in btb. In ranked I do every match
sometimes it feels just like that
next game you are popping people with ease
