Are sniper bullets hitscan?

Are sniper bullets hitscan? If so, then you have an insta kill DMR that either nets double points OR kills from across the largest maps.

That’s absurdly OP. And people complain about DMR? This community is blind.

No.

lol yes

Edit
Yeah the sniper is overpowered, it is SUPPOSED to be, that’s the point of power weapons bro…

Well, I’d say OP is new to Halo and doesn’t understand the concept of power weapons.

No, I’ve been playing halo for months I know what a friggin’ power weapon is. This is the worst community I’ve ever seen, it automatically assumes anyone with a thought about a weapon is a noob who doesn’t play halo?

I only meant that the sniper is the best power weapon, like, it’s too damn good. What other power weapon can get insta kills at any range and score double points?

The snapshot medal provides too many points. That’s my main issue. A weapon that’s designed for campers… kinda pisses me off.

A mounted turret is meant to mow down the competition, yet I find touching them leads to instant death. I’m sure that’s not how they were meant to be used. A detrimental weapon? Weird.

If it’s OK to compare tiny differences in loadout weapons, then by extension the same goes for power weapons. DMRs and Snipers, who the hell needs “choice” when you rape everyone? It’s just unfair.

Anyone know how to get the other Enforcer helm without going -10 each game?

The thing is you’re comparing the Sniper rifle to the DMR. One is a power weapon, one is not. Nobody’s complaining about the Sniper because it’s a rare power weapon that should be getting easy kills. And you’ve been playing Halo for “months”? Yes, you are quite the noob indeed.

Have you not played halo 4? There’s sniper rifles EVERYWHERE. And I never compared the DMR to the Sniper, noob. I only proved that I have a point to compare power weapons.

Shotgun has NOTHING on a sniper. Is that a better comparison? Are you happy now?

Shotgun is close range insta kill, worth 10 points.
Sniper is every range insta kill, worth 10 or 20 points.

I just wanted to say the community has no right to call the DMR OP, 'cause it’s not. Is it the best loadout? You bet. But considering how many snipers are available… I feel like I’m playing team snipers every match, except no one on my team has any.

I quite a CTF game. Wanna know why? The match had barely started, the score was still 0-0, and I had already died 5 times from different sniper rifles. And that’s WITHOUT personal ordnance. I checked on waypoint later, the match ended 4-0 and my team had a grand -50 K/D. It was rediculous. Just seems a bit unfair to always be fighting sniper vs DMRs. Glad I quite early!

Who cares about how many points you get from a kill lol. Its sad for you that you actually care about points from medals; you missed the glory days when the only points that you got was 1 point for a win.

Actually, you got points for kills. I’ve seen multikills come from single binary rifle shots… So double points without medals there. The shotgun can only ever kill 1 guy at a time… So snipers win again!

i think the whole point in a Sniper Rifle to to be able to one shot people cross map.

Also, it’s only Insta-Kill if you hit headshots. It requires 2 in the body.
Your complaint is rather stupid.

It’s a Sniper Rifle for gods sake.

> Actually, you got points for kills. I’ve seen multikills come from single binary rifle shots… So double points without medals there. The shotgun can only ever kill 1 guy at a time… So snipers win again!

BINARY KILLS IN ONE SHOT. How does sniper win there? Are you limited? In halo 2 and 3, you never got points from kills. You are sounding pretty dum right now

Really? I see about 1 sniper every other match. I have no idea what you’re playing, probably big team. And yeah, the DMR is OP because it’s an all-range killing machine that makes every other loadout weapon useless. The sniper rifle doesn’t impact the game at all, therefore, there’s no reason to complain about it. The DMR impacts the game heavily because it’s the most used weapon in the game.

Apparently I’m the noob. I guess playing for several years doesn’t compare to a few months…

And your totally correct! But you’ve won nothing! D:

In reality, snipers don’t do that so easily. And they’re totally worthless at close range.

Not in Halo though, in Halo, snipers become double score shotguns at close or even mid range! Don’t you see my argument? Bah, there’s no reasoning with this forum anymore.

Well goodbye forum people. And good riddens.

Bye bye! And take your CoD logic with you, nooblet.

Power weapons are more or less designed to be tiered.

The Sniper Rifle just happens to be one of the best ones.

You could ask this same question regarding the Rocket Launcher, “why pick the shotgun over the rocket launcher”?

The Shotgun is a low tier power weapon.

Though honestly, why are you complaining about this now? You should’ve been complaining about this in 2001, if you know what I mean.

The sniper rifle is no more powerful than it has always been.

Lol, I’m pretty sure i’ve never lost or very rarely too a sniper who try’s using it as a “shotgun”
if you’re being killed by close ranger snipers, you’re obviously doing something wrong in your play style.

Also, you don’t get “double score” I use the sniper often, 1 kill with it = 10 points. Same with anything else.

Is this your first Halo? The sniper is no different to how it was in 2001 with CE.

why do you keep talking about DOUBLE SCORE? you get 10 extra points that helps you lvl up (it takes 50k points to level up). Those points dont go on the score board. Your logic makes no sense at all.

HALO: REACH WAS THE FIRST FPS I’VE OWNED, I GOT IT A FEW YEARS AGO. I was a total noob and worked my way to a legend, and a really good player, so don’t call me a noob, please. I played Reach and Black Ops 2 side by side, and I prefered Halo. I don’t have an older Xbox, hence I have not played H1 or H2. I have played Halo 3, but I couldn’t bear the control scheme. I’m not biased towards games, but I am towards controls. Like tap jump in more 2D games.

Sniper Kill=10 points
Snapshot!=10 points

Sniper Kill+Snapshot!=20 points

If you can’t do basic math… well… I’m sorry about when you got dropped on the head.

You obtain BOTH medals. It’s only fair with the binary rifle because the spread is horrible when zoomed out.

I’ve been practicing with the Sniper recently (difficult with lag) but I find I’m always at the top of the score board if I just use it like a DMR. I don’t hate it, but I just think Snapshot medals are too rewarding. I feel cheap using a sniper, OK?

I alwasy hear people talking about “competition” on this forum, but let me ask you this. If a man walks up to a turret and gets sniped right there and then, is there really any competition? DMR vs DMR there’s actually something going on, you have a chance to survive. Same thing with pretty much every other power weapon, you can deal with other power weapons. Not snipers though. I can stick people with any CQC weapons. I cannot stick someone on the other side of the map with a sniper.

Again, medals are pointless. An extra 10 points in a match where you get 2500-3000 is nothing.
