In my experience they seem wildly inconsistent. There are times where I’ve hit a target right at their feet but it only does shield damage, and other times where I get killed by the splash from a mile away. When all this desync stuff started popping up I just assumed it was a part of that. No idea.
It’s trash in campaign too.
I’d say it’s “ok” in campaign, but there are better options.
As someone who has literally got off playing Fiesta on H3, I can tell you Infinite’s rockets are fine.
H3 Rockets need even more direct shots to kill a target, while splashes break shields only.
Infinite’s rockets can kill even with the splash.
One thing I can guess is that you are suffering from desync, which is a major issue for all players atm.
Splash damage is severely reduced. I see so few people killing themselves with rockets anymore, and that’s after like a point-blank melee encounter.
tbh I don’t like how they work. They could seriously use a buff.
I was thinking the same thing the splash damage is pointless, It used to be a good get them around the corner weapon.
Also what’s a good ping
You know the community has gone wild when they start the question whether a weapon with one shot multi-kill potential multiple times is underpowered.
I get shot behind walls, takes 5 shots to drop sheilds with a BR my ping today averaged 20-21.
One game einwas at 50 another at 100 and I have a wired connection that on systems like BF2040 I have nearly no ping. Even on the bad servers.
I don’t think they’re underpowered. I don’t want the rocket launcher to give pretty much guaranteed 2-4 kills. I think it’s perfect damage-wise as is because it’s still an easy insta-kill power weapon so it’s important to gain control of, but it’s also avoidable if played correctly when the enemy has it.
Even if you don’t manage to get an instant kill or two, making several enemies one-shot simultaneously is a big advantage for your team.
I think it’s more like they over-corrected in pursuit of some easy-to-point-to “balance”, which doesn’t really enable a fun casual experience, for example the Commando outclasses the AR in theory, but the ease-of-use of the AR, and even the BR in ranked, make that gun not worth picking up unless you’re insanely accurate. Halo pros are historically not fans of Bloom/recoil heavy precision weapons, sprint, clamber, and other features prominently featured in Infinite’s sanbox. The Esports aspect of Halo is more of a marketing push than a design philospy.
They are inconsistent and I think affected by the desync issues. I’ve hit shots right at people’s feet like 15ish ft away and they kill me and they survive. Sometimes I think it does more splash damage directly at me rather than near where I fire it.
No, but I think the Banshee Bomb is underpowered
Oh my god someone finally said it!
I find myself ALL THE TIME shooting a rocket, thinking it’s a kill, and just by reflex moving on - only to be embarrassed when they kill me because I only dropped their shield. Not sure if it’s the power or lack of splash but it’s no bueno.
had no issue with rockets in multiplayer… though they feel underpowered in campaign
