Are rockets underpowered?

i’ve noticed a whole lot of hitmarkers happening with rockets, not only in my own play, but also in the hcs gameplay this weekend. it may be because im not too used to hitmarkers in halo, but people seem to walk away from rocket splash damage alot in infinite. thoughts?

I don’t think they’re underpowered. You do have to land you shots, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It might be a little harder to use than in some games, but you can still pretty easily get double+ kills off one rocket. If anything, in my opinion I think they’re a little overpower in how close the users can be to their rocket without dying, but that’s just my opinion.

I was playing a bot match and I shot two guys which a rocket basically touching each other. It hit one’s feet, one died, the others shields dropped m. It looked like the one guy absorbed all the damage or something.

Call me old fashioned but in the legacy games they would of been a classic double kill, easily :skull_and_crossbones:

i also think the same, but im a die hard halo 3 player. i get that infinite is a new game with a larger skill gap. just doesnt feel right splash damage not being fatal to me. i think the speed of this game complicates the problem a bit. def saw a few instances in the hcs where rockets hit at someones feet that was jiggle peaking a corner and the player only got hitmarkers, it actually happened twice in a row.

Wow

Hey and these are pro players, you’d think they’d take the shots necessary to win…

like you pointed out, they would have been kills in the legacy games. they looked like great shots. the game just said no.

Personally I feel it needs to decide what it is, antivehicle, antiheavy enemies (spartans, hunters etc) or power weapon. To slow to practically engage vehicles at mid to long range, skewer does way better on this even with leading. Not enough splash range for its speed and damage as is if meant for both, and as is feels like its for heavy enemies.

i play primarily ranked so i dont have too much experience with how rockets perform against vehicles. what have you been experiencing?

I think desync and bad hit reg can mess with some of the shots. Ill sometimes not even get an instance of damage when it should absolutely kill the person. It works most the time though, in my experience.

What’s odd is that I haven’t seen grenades have issues. They go boom as well :boom:

Some how two grenades is a kill but you can stand one step away from an RPG blast and be like
:sunglasses: “ (halo theme song plays in the background)

I agree after watching Raleigh. Even on LAN with pros rockets arent killing people when they hit right by their feet

it def seemed to happen a whole lot at the championship, i saw it too.

Based on what I have seen with the game and some testing, I would consider the Halo Infinite Rocket Launcher to be relatively boring to use mainly due to the rockets having a relatively small blast radius. My favorite rocket is definitely the one seen in Halo CE mainly due to a massive blast radius and that it deals so much damage that pretty much nothing can survive the blast which is a big contrast to Halo Infinite where it’s relatively easy to survive rockets shots.

Yeah that doesn’t make any sense to me, shouldn’t they have similar explosive power to grenades?

I saw they need a NERF! I once got kicked out of a ranked match for getting hit by one and crashing my game (it was on my fov, so all those effects loaded right on me, resulting in a blinding screen.). It also lowered my rank a little after that :expressionless:

well historically grenades drop shields and rockets are a one shot kill. i just think that any amount of splash damage should be an insta kill with the rockets, that may be just because i am used to that however. i definitely need to get better with the rockets we currently have in infinite.

The splash damage for the Rocket Launcher feels pretty weak to me. There’s been a lot of kills that I’m sure I would’ve gotten but didn’t due to the weak splash damage. Would like the range/damage increased for it.

Underpowered - no
Broken - yes

I’ve smashed 2 rockets into someone’s face and they’ve bounced off and they’ve gone skipping into the sunset without a care in the world.

It’s not a precision weapon, so it was nerfed alongside everything else that isn’t a precision weapon, because E-sports. Where E-sports is concerned no fun is allowed.

They are 100% underpowered. I don’t bother even using a rocket launcher in campaign on legendary difficulty anymore. They land on enemies like Brute Chieftains and it takes 5 or more rockets to kill them.

Better bet is Sentinel beam and spam grenades. Along with precision weapon to the head.
