I have all either complete or on master, except for perfection. They needed to be harder. most don’t require skill at all, just play time. Also the perfection should have giving you something way cooler then arms, like the Fotus.
> most don’t require skill at all, just play time.
That’s the whole point. To keep people playing.
Skilled play is rewarded with wins, stats, a few challenging commendations, and CSR (though CSR could be improved). Playing time is rewarded with the rest of the commendations and SR.
That’s by design.
Makes sense I so pose. I just wish almost everybody didn’t play just to get armor. There is no teamwork what so ever.
That may be more of a playstyle preference than something the commendations cause. Lots of casuals like to just hop on and play without taking things too seriously. Teamwork requires talking in a mic, listening to a mic, knowing callouts, etc. Lone wolf just requires using thumbs.
They should have added a Final Kill medal.
> They should have added a Final Kill medal.
Would be cool.
Also, they should have had commendations for Hail Mary’s. By far my favorite medal in the game.
> Also, they should have had commendations for Hail Mary’s. By far my favorite medal in the game.
No, you can cheat to get this. If you through a grenade up close, then and spawn far away you will get the medal.

WTF. I have never seen that. Does it even work?

True, but that’s not necessarily cheating. They should have left that as a From the Grave medal only.
Well, I never knew they had this medal. Strange that I only have 2. I know Iv’e gotten plenty in SWAT.

Hasn’t worked since they removed the final kill cam. So thats a medal nobody will get anymore unless the final kill cams are restored.
A bit like Halo Reach’s Thriller medal. Kill 15 humans in a row as a zombie without dying, yet there are only 12 people in an infection game and the spree doesn’t carry over to the next round (therefore making it impossible to get in online matchmaking).
I forgot about the old kill-cam. Damn, I kinda miss it.
I HATE Commendations, it makes people only play to complete them and go for the unlocks instead of trying to play the game properly.
It’s a good thing if they take little time and effort because I just want my unlocks and focus on skilled play, not putting in ridiculous amounts of time to grind to get something.
The only reason I’m still playing Halo 4 is for Commendations. If there were no Commendations, I would’ve moved on months ago.
It’s very possible that Commendations are what’s keeping the population as high as it is.
More like too quick. As is the case with all Halo 4 commendations.
Reach had the right idea. 10,000 whatever to make Onyx. Now that’s earning a commendation.
To your point about Perfection earning you nothing but a pair of gloves… Halo 4 had a great opportunity to take commendation and armory integration to the next level. Instead they … well… I don’t know what they did but they missed the mark by a ships length IMHO. I guess they had microtransactions on the brain.
I don’t agree with them being too easy. I had a heck of a time with Splaser. I’m almost completely done with Weapons Mastery. PP is proving to be the most daunting.
I also think commendation players are in the minority. Since most of the accomplishments are not visible to other players in the lobby.
Most recently I have been enjoying the few games I can in the Legendary Slayer playlist. I’m loving no AA’s. That playlist will do nothing for my commendations. Well unless I get Skyline and am lucky enough to get that Beam Rifle. That’s one of the last ones I need.

Agree with this %100. I’ve often thought that maybe those in charge of deciding the commendations, were some of the ones who were hired who didn’t like or play Halo in the first place.

They screwed it up with the specializations. Those became primary over the commendations.
Specializations should have been the uber-commendation. So want wetwork? Get 350 assassinations, 750 sword kills, 750 beatdowns, and 5,000 melee kills. Something like that. Make them HARD so they take a long time, rather than 10 spartan rank levels that you can do in a day. And do not associate perks with them. They are commendations, and, hence, are their own reward.
That way, they could have expanded on what they already had with previous titles and made it like totally super awesomer. Instead, they went a class route that really didn’t work and the commendations got left behind.
The weapons commendations get people to use and learn multiple weapons. That still works. The specializations should have been used to get people to learn different ways to play the game (CQC, driver, gunner, pilot, sniper, flag carrier, etc.). Instead, they get you perks by simply doing exactly the same thing you would have done anyway.
