Since launch I have been a platinum rank in slayer, I usually push up to almost making diamond then come crashing back down. I think it’s where I belong based on my skill set ( casual old dude gamer). Same with FFA. Always ranked diamond, have good close games and always in the top 3.
This season I made platinum again but the competition is through the roof at platinum, feels more like going up against a diamond pre made team. I was wondering if any of you guys were onyx/diamond prior to this season and getting placed a little lower than you should be?
Im not a great player, not even a good player but a capable one in platinum since launch. I feel as though something has changed. Either that or My skills just dropped drastically in the last week. But that also really wouldn’t surprise me.
Maybe you have improved but don’t forget that the rank system is based on the victories. So it depends on your teammates aswell.
At Launch I was ranked Platinium, and then Platinium 5, Diamond, and the last one Platinium again (Slayer). It means nothing imo, if you usually play alone like me, the thing is having luck with teammates.
They did say they adjusted the csr curves.m this season somehow. The past seasons I’ve placed in onyx in slayer ffa and arena. This season I got placed diamond. So I think it’s less generous than it has been in the past. So I guess diamond and above level players are now populating the plat ranks.

i think everyone likes to play competitively in arena. That means playing against your own skill set. IMO I have no business playing against onyx players. Can’t be very fun for them either. I hate being matched against a team that clearly should be playing much lower or higher.
Well, you know I was in a serious funk lately, but I pulled out of it this weekend. I feel like Im playing like my old self again and I think changing my sticks back to default sensitivity had something to do with it.
I played my placement matches with the usual suspects from the company and we all ranked lower than usual. I think they changed the tier requirements again. this is the first time since pre season I placed gold in team and slayer. the January season I was plat 6 in everything at one point and diamond 2 in breakout. The player pool could be getting smaller so the tiers are getting tighter, or they changed the requirements. Either way the matches in gold were crazy competitive but the January season I absolutely destroyed gold. I got to platinum again in both slayer and team last night so we’ll see how things go for the rest of the month.

HAH the last few weeks my xbox was on the verge of destruction plenty of times…I’m surprised my new controller made it thought in one piece. The week off and going back to defaults helped me A LOT (I think)

Same experience here, consistent onyx or high diamond. Now it just feels like diamond and platinum are the new onyx with the people I’ve been getting matched against.
Tbh I’ve been floating around high plat and diamond for last two months but this month for sure I’ve seen plats tht feel like onyx. I play against onyx so much with champion friends so I’m well accustomed to it.
Playing against golds feels the same as normal I wreck them. Plat is weird atm there either good and should not b plat or they are an actual plat

I had the complaint that too many people who weren’t even good were in onyx and now they fixed it.
The people in Platinum now = Diamond from last season.
The people in Diamond now = Low Onyx from last season.

I’ve noticed this too. Lower levels seem to be harder.
I think it’s because they made it harder to place onyx and even diamond. For example, I’ve been high onyx the past three seasons in slayer, arena, and FFA. So far this season, I’ve only placed in slayer but it put me in platinum 6!! I haven’t been platinum since launch.
To be fair I was playing solo and I’ve now progressed into diamond, but even diamond is low compared to my placements previously.

Agreed. It seems much more evenly distributed now. Onyx actually means something again
im diamond in breakout and you MUST have a premade team. Basically always did. However people may use Halo LFG if they dont have friends and just play together since teams always dominate
I personally think the ranking system is not accurate. The fact that any rank can search with any rank makes it so. I see Onyx players go -20, and I see gold and plat players go +20 vs onyx/diamond players.
After seeing this ranking system in action for 3 months…I hope they switch it back to 1-50 (which they won’t).
i was onyx last season and now im Platinum 6. I think everyone is placing lower because i see a lot of god people in Platinum.
I still have to do my placement matches in Team Arena and i assume im going to also rank lower.
Im going to try to rank up my team slayer before i do my placement matches for arena though.
Same experience except in FFA I typically place onyx, and placed plat 1 the night the new season dropped, wasn’t that hard to grind up to diamond (took less then 5 games) but getting back to onyx will def be a grind…
I used to be Platinum, now I’m Gold. 343 adjusted the CSR to reflect the current skill distribution within the active population. I’m glad with being demoted to Gold, I was tanking bad in Platinum last season.
