I’m not a old halo fan. Just started here with 5. Lots are talking about people leaving like it did with halo 4. But I’m having the feeling that more people are joining.
Reasoning.
- 5 is better than 4. Most agree and the huge base from 3 didn’t all go PS but likely stayed on the box. Now they are hearing there’s a good halo out and might return.
- There’s a huge amount of PR out with xgames and the championships. And old haloers and cod fan boys are seeing this.
- On the twitch streams there’s always some angry flaming cod kids, I swear these are the guys whose friends started playing halo 5 and these flaming kids duck at halo. It’s hard.
- It’s the fps esports platform of xbox. And doing a good job at it.
- Servers are struggling. I know they haven’t been 100% always but seems worse after xgames. Could some of it be overload?
- I’m seeing a lot of good low level kids in gold Plat. These must come from some where or I duck bad.
This is just my positive spin on what’s going on right now in a game I really like and wish well for.
Well, the game is definitely been doing well enough. It was in the top ten most played a couple weeks ago. But no, I can’t say that it totally beat Halo 4. It lacks a lot of casual content. But competitive Halo is doing well, and that does make me happy.
I’m sure the continued lack of game modes is keeping some away still. Halo 5 needs a boost of Infection and other game modes soon. I think Warzone Firefight might bring some back if it isn’t a hackjob, but I’m not sure.
Without going into detail, the game does need a lot of work and I’m sure that it’s keeping some people away. But what little there is is good. Sometimes I feel like we’re all just beta testing for Halo 6 content and 5 has just been a test of “What do you -Yoinks!- want?”.

Yes casual is not a term I would use to describe halo 5. but that’s fine for me, I think of it as an esports game, same as any sport there will be a steep learning curve to get good. so I casual in other games and come here when I’m rdy to pass out some paincakes

Which, if executed properly, can make Halo 6 a hell of a game…certainly would not hold my breath on that one…that being said I have already put in twice as much game time into 5 as I did 4, so I mus be enjoying this some

I might be getting my buddy back into it. As for the series in general, I didn’t buy Halo 4 because it was a -Yoink- excuse if a game. I thought Halo 5 would be the same way until my buddy brought it over a few days after it came out. Man did that change my mind.

IMO there still isn’t a current FPS gane that interests me enough to put halo 5 down.
Sweaty try hards or no sweaty try hards the game is competitive by nature and im. enjoying it even with the routine butt kicking I recieve. I’ve never understood the argument that casuals can’t enjoy the game. I’m a casual gamer who loves halo. Always have.
. We’ve reached past the 3 month point after release where halo 4s population tanked. I’m not too sure if more people are coming back but it’s it appears to me a larger percentage of gamers who purchased halo 5 are wanting to continue playing at this point in its lifespan. Matchmaking times are still very fast for me.
The only other conpetative shooter that really interests me is doom 4. Which I will definetly be purchasing. That is the next test of survival for halo 5 I would imagine.

Never said it dominated everything, but claimed its on the rise, rather than fall and made points to back up my claim. Casual dont care much about esports sure ill give you that, but gamers who like the competitive feel do. personally ill play other games for the casual feel or fly around WZ. for me playing arena can feel casual as well, its just a matter of accepting that I’m not a halo god

And those gamers who care about competitive gameplay are the minority. Halo 5’s sales number back me on this.
