Are loadouts gone entirely?

I’d actually be sad if loadouts are gone entirely. Like many people, I agree that having them be the main focus of halo 4 was a bad decision, but a big part of halo is the variety of gameplay: This is why forced sprint and forced no descope was such a big deal: it’s not just that people disliked it, it’s also that there was no option to play without it, and that there weren’t modes without it online.

I’m fine with loadouts being relegated to a few or even just one playlist in halo 5, but I don’t want it to only be available in custom games, and especially for it to not be in the game at all.

I disliked Loadouts and hope they don’t return, I wish I could say they’re gone, but I haven’t looked into it, If I can recall the arena style gameplay is only hinted at for the Beta, Time will tell.

I would just like full gametype customization back, especially in gametypes like Flood mode.

Again, I don’t mind not having them be the focus or the standard game mode, I agree they shouldn’t be, but I don’t want the option to have them being taken away from custom games just because people disliked it being forced on them.

for the arena 4v4 beta there is no loadouts

> for the arena 4v4 beta there is no loadouts

I’m not talking about the beta.

I doubt it. They included “Weapon Sets” in H2A, as seen in this image: http://i.imgur.com/yBY2EDi.png

So it makes sense that if they are going to do that, they’ll be back in Halo 5 in some form or another, hopefully like how Reach did it. Plus, they have the AR, DMR, and BR (all potential starting weapons) to handle in the game, so it seems likely they’ll give us the choice of what we want to spawn with. For the beta, however, they disabled them to give that 4 v 4 arena focus.

And I agree with you, OP. We just need options for things like this. Removing them entirely will do a lot of damage to custom games and such.

Totally agree OP.
For me it’s armor abilities, I mean they’re ALREADY confirmed gone. Entirely. Fine, take them out of multiplayer, whatever, but having them in customs adds a ton of variety and interesting ideas. Just look at the explosion of custom games in Reach.
I guess that just depresses me a little bit.

I keep overlooking that, I can agree with you there, I feel the more customisation we throw at custom games the more replay value it gives to you and your friends.

if you read it properly, the arena 4v4 doesn’t have loadouts. so no there is still a chance that there is loadouts in the multiplayer for some playlists

In regards to what you said here, though it;s a little off topic: I’m REALLY curious to see how sandbox balance is gonna play out.

In the recent trailer, you can see the AR, SMG, BR, and DMR, and presumably the magnum will be around as well.

Those are 5 different starting weapons, and I think we all agree halo has classically had problems making sure they were well balanced; the only game that came close was reach, in which the magnum, AR, and DMR all had useful and distinct roles, perhaps the magnum less so since the DMR kinda outclassed it, bt then again, the DMR wasn’t intended to be a starting gun in reach.

It seems doubtful they’re gone entirely. However, they’ll probably be very different compared to Halo 4’s.

I’m suspecting that they have Arena (ranked) playlists and maybe Infinity (social) playlists. Obviously in the Arena, loadouts are disabled, and people spawn with set equipment dictated by gametype settings, while in Infinity, people can choose a primary and secondary to spawn with.

I doubt it. They seem to be in Halo 2 Anniversary mutiplayer in some way according to the videos. So they must be in at least as some kind of option in either certain playlists or custom games.

I would think that naturally they would be in Halo 5 to.

Here’s an image to show how they work in H2A: http://i.imgur.com/7b4044O.jpg

Wow I’ve never seen the screenshot before thanks! Seems like it would be good for custom games. If that’s how they’re working in matchmaking to I’m also fine with that.

It will be very good for customs, since it’s basically the same style that Reach took, minus the AAs.

I really am suspecting that this is also how they will apply the loadouts to Halo 5 as well.

I hope they’re gone.

they fit into the anti-halo category.

Wait… Hold the phone here…

Are they only removing personal loadouts or are they getting rid of the option to give the player different sets of weapons to spawn with in custom games as well?

The former of the two wouldn’t upset me that much. However, the latter, would cripple Custom Games on a whole new level.

Doubt it, don’t forget that people love big teams and custom games. There will be a simple enable or disable option in the gametype settings for when you want them or not.
