Are Ilovebees and Iris canon? (Please no...)

I’ve recently been watching/reading/catching up on everything that is Halo Lore- all the games, comics, books (just finished the Forerunner saga, woo), the Waypoint canon-threads, and so on.

Now the thing is, I wouldn’t usually be pessimistic when it comes to something to add to Halo canon, but Iris and Ilovebees just seem so long and made ages ago ('04 and '07- leading up to Halo 2 and 3).

If they are in fact canon, is there anything in them I’ll miss out on? Any important story elements?

Or is it safe to give them a miss?

Hopefully they’re considered not-canon… so I don’t need to put myself through the ‘torture’ of reading over all their transcripts of them etc.

Thanks.

They are both canon, but they are not too important. I don’t think they are, at least. Not compared to the novels or comics at least. I would still check them out, I enjoyed them.

Okay, thanks. Hows the best way to do that? Halopedia/Halo nation? Or another way?

two characters from i love bees, Herzog and Standish as well as events in the i love bees storyline in which they took place, are referenced in a canon image. Additionally, entities introduced in i love bees, including Optican, chatters, and communications kiosks, were later featured in Halo 3: ODST. The colony Mamore was mentioned prominently in promotional material for Halo: Reach. Finally, several key elements of i love bees, including Melissa, the UNSC Apocalypso, and the deep-space artefact are included in the officially canon Halo Encyclopaedia; despite this, Melissa is explicitly identified as a member of the first class of SPARTAN-IIs. In 2011, Frank O’Connor again stated that i love bees is considered canon by 343 Industries

i love bees is all but forgotten and prone to having bits and pieces retconned. Still, it is canon except at parts where it’s contradicted by newer material. Iris is fully canon.

Just the answer I was looking for, cheers Kane.
