Are flood sniper-proof or something?

I was just wondering if flood are supposed to be sniper-proof, as in the level ‘Keyes’ (CE) I can shoot a flood combat form 50 times and the lil’ blighter doesn’t die. Thanks for the answers in advance. Also, if this should be in the CEA section, please move it there.

It’s one bullet that goes right through, not enough to cause a lot of damage.

50 shots though, that’s a lot of holes.

This was explained very well in Halo: The Flood when chief examines why his sniper round did next to nothing to the flood florm, didnt even make it flinch. The reason is that the flood form has practically liquified on the inside and major organs are no longer essential or even necessary. The bullet passes through this soft substance so quick that it leaves a tiny, sniper round sized hole. Its like shooting a sponge essentially. Only way to kill a flood form is to shoot it so much that you rip it apart, sniper rounds fail at that. Not sure if the sniper can one shot “head shot” an combat form like precision rifles, anyone know that bit?

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say

Thank you for clearing that up for me, guess I’ll stick with the magnums and missals.

Its that chump ontop of like a path where the two hunters are on Keyes init.

You can head shot some flood forms, just look for the head hanging to one side off the shoulder

I’m a little fuzzy on this but I’m fairly sure that in Halo 2 and Halo 3 the Sniper and Beam Rifle are effective against Flood and can kill them quite easily. I always thought the Sniper having no effect on Flood was a nice touch that made a lot of sense though.

Didn’t check how long ago your comment was made but in halo 2 the second to last mission ( I can’t remember the name) you can find a sniper at the end that a flood forms holding and i kills flood

If you look on the other sites with Halo info, they mention how headshots for flood are needed to snipe them. (The head tends to be where the head from the host was not at the very top.)

Canonically, I believe, If you shoot the infection form inside the infected host, then you would kill it. So a sniper rifle could be effective that way. However, that requires some serious precision marksmanship, and if another infection form comes along, it could just reanimate the corpse.

EDIT: I’m sure it wasn’t intentional, but it’s pretty poetic that this thread was “reanimated”, so to speak lol

Please don’t revive old topics thanks, especially ones that are over 6 years old
