Has anyone killed a phantom dropship in firefight? What does it take. I’ve gotten one, only because i fired on it, then the round ended and it blew up. Is it possible to pro-actively take them out?
I don’t think so. I shot a couple with hannible tanks and it doesn’t even seem to take out the elite on the turret.
I think the answer is yes.
In Sanctum Round 5, Protect the core.
There is one time we destroy a phantom (it’s broke apart.)
But when we try to destroy another one, we just failed.
Still don’t know why.

what were you using, and were you able to destroy it before it deployed troops?
They are initially set to be invincible (to prevent players from destroying them before the troops were dropped off) just like some in past games.
In past games, they were able to be destroyed if on levels where you access to heavy firepower. But that’s campaign from the past Halo titles.

We have at least 3 scorpions and 2 wraiths.
We all try to get the kill of those drop troops so we shoot the phantom before it even open the side door to drop troop.
I think we destroyed it before it deployed 2 hunters because I do not see the corps of the hunters.
It just broken apart. And everyone in my party is shouting like:“WOW ARE WE DESTROY THE PHANTOM? LET TRY IT AGAIN!”
But when the next one come in, we shoot it again, nothing happened.
Really strange.
So I guess maybe there are only some of the phantoms are not mortal.
I’ve only seen them go down when it’s the objective to kill them.
At least we should be able to kill their OP turrets!
If you shoot one before a round ends you’ll get the kill when it blows up and a Phantom Destroyed medal, so I’d assume they’re meant to be destructible,
No? But I wish we can kill the gunner…
Phantoms were made from the same stuff Chief’s armor was made out of, I mean c’mon, hasn’t anyone figured this out yet? Can’t kill Chief, can’t kill Promos. Simple. Jeez.

Just the ones where it’s your objective to kill one. The dropship phantoms are unkillable. Much like other AI in WZFF lol

Yeah I don’t get it either. I don’t mind if it was a warrior class with strong shields or a grunt ultra with shields… But seriously cmon. The gunners on the killable phantom should be invincible because they are a boss… Usually, when all the guns and gunners are destroyed on a phantom, its basically useless. It just floats around and does nothing. It makes a boss really useless but its okay for a troop carrier…

Yup, if they are the objective, they can be destroyed while the round is ongoing. Kinetic Bolt AR’s work well, so do chaingun turrets and plasma turrets - I believe they are only an objective sometimes in Round 2 of Sanctum. Otherwise, don’t waste your ammo.
