So im sitting looking at my TV screen and I notice that Castle DLC has only 84 players in there. now I know its day time UK time and somewhere in the early hours in the States but come on? this makes me wonder why I bothered buying the limited edition game. had I known id spend most of my time playing the regular maps id not have wasted the extra £30. aside from that I cant even play the other map packs as they have been temp’ withdrawn. don’t get me wrong, the forge maps do spruce things up a bit as they have grenades in places and weapons laying around waiting to be picked up like the old days so im still playing but I don’t feel im getting value for money here. what do you guys think?
The same ive been out of halo for awhile as my old xbox had a fall out of a window (long story)so i stopped playing halo 4 before the crimson dlc was even out.
So i came back to halo download all the map packs onto my new xbox only to find out i cant even play two of them.
Im sorry but even the cool little energy sword pen i got free with my limited edition isnt enough to warrant stealing many off me for something i cant even play.
What i dont get is why after each dlc has had its own stand lone playlist for so long they dont add them to the regular playlists?
Sucks aswell as i love trying to get the achievements and i cant get any of em for two of the dlc’s.
that sucks man! it would appear the achievements were only meant for those that had the maps at the start and have large parties to boost them…
Well all i can say is they better put those maps into the normal map rotation otherwise i will be demanding some money back.
Didnt realize it was called limited edition because you could only play the maps for a limited time.

They are in a lot of playlists but they simply don’t show up because many don’t play the game any more.
I enjoyed crimson when it was first release because you could played them in BTB. But now they rarely show up in BTB anymore. trying to play majestic DLC is almost impossible because people never vote for them or they don’t have it. Castle DLC would’ve made more logical sense to be a BTB 8v8 instead or 6v6 playlist. So yeah DLC map are pretty worthless in its current state, they also get overshadowed by custom forge maps.

For the record, they didn’t steal money from you. You can still play the maps in customs and they are in a lot of playlists, unfortunately many people (like myself) haven’t bought the DLC (pardon me on that one, I haven’t had the MS points to do so) so they never come up.
It’s a terrible situation, one they should have learned from 9 months ago when the Reach DLC fiasco happened, but they haven’t, so we’re going to have to live with it until they put in a DLC playlist that involves all the maps.
I don’t know if there was some backend tuning done recently or if I’ve just been extremely lucky in the past two days but DLC maps have been coming up for prematch voting pretty consistently in Infinity Slayer for me…? Here’s to hoping that trend continues.
If you like Forging, Customs, or Machinimas, don’t buy them.
If you like playing stock gamemodes with the same roughly 180 people (most of whom are just grinding for cheevos) for a few hours, go right ahead.
If I have to play Exile 1 more time I will punch a kitten.
DLC map shows, up, people pick Exile, why?
I wish they would just have a DLC playlist of only DLC maps for us suckers that bought them.
343i handling of the entire DLC was poor in general.
As they are currently implemented, yes. 343i did not learn from the mistake of Reach with it’s DLC. DLC needs to become a requirement for a lot of playlists over a certain period of time (like about 4 months). That way people won’t feel like they’ve wasted their money, because outside of DLC playlists (which always lose their population after the first month), you will rarely see them again.
glad im not alone in my frustrations. wish someone would take note but I wont hold my breath.

Because it’s a fun map, and it’s the only map of which I’m aware that has a gauss hog and tank.
For all their big talk about being Halo fans and listening to the community the folks at 343i just don’t get it. Furthermore, they overhyped the game and misled people. They talked about a lot of the new stuff but didn’t tell people how much of the old stuff would be missing, or about new things we wouldn’t like, such as nearly instantaneous weapon despawning.
People were upset by the way they handled the DLC in Reach, where you often couldn’t play on the maps you bought, so I suspect that many people were leery this time around to pony up for map packs they were afraid they wouldn’t be able to use. I don’t think it helped that as best I can tell they saved the best map pack for last. I tried the Crimson map pack when it was available as a free trial and just wasn’t impressed. The maps may have played okay, but they were all dark and dreary to my way of thinking so I didn’t buy it.
I bought the Castle map pack after some people told me it was the best of the three. I’m really a BTB guy these days, but I did play a game on Perdition and my impression was that it was a very nice map.
So basically they dropped a number of balls in Halo 4, which has cost them players, and after the map pack fiasco in Reach I suspect many of them were reluctant to buy the maps this time around. If you think the number of people playing the Castle map is low now, imagine what it would be like if the Limited edition didn’t include the map pass.
