I mean yes dedicated servers help many get a clear gameplay experience and non lag game. But some people lack the connection to actaully play halo 5. Myself for example I preordered halo 5 limited edition and waited so long for the game but right when I went to multiplayer I cannot play because the servers are not available for all members of my fireteam I know not a lot but some have the same experience I have been with halo from the start and this makes me very mad at least dial down the stricness of the servers A little bit and let other die hard halo fans actually play halo because I really want to
If everyone in your fireteam opens the ports for Halo 5 on their routers you will find it works very well.
The alternative would be peer-2-peer connections, which have their own share of issues and are generally less stable than dedicated servers. In P2P, if you get a laggy host, everyone feels it.

The servers are best for the usa (surprise, surprise) and usually get worse if you arent there. If you play on your ‘home’ server you can still get laggy matches but if you play people on another server you are at a massive disadvantage. Some games are unplayable.
It is even worse for those who dont have a server and cant get matches.
Long story short, the servers favour americans generally (though its not the players’ fault) and everyone else feeds off scraps to a varying degree from not too horrendous to unplayable in a very literal sense.
