Are crawlers, watchers, and soldiers composed?

Title. In the Halo 4 terminals, when the didact composed his warrior servants and the humans, only knights were shown. Were crawlers, watchers, and soldiers composed then or were they made like sentinels?

No, they are robotic AI through and through.

Ok, I was confused. Then whats the need for soldiers and watchers with humanoid faces? Why don’t they look more similar to sentinels?

The humanoid faces may have been a result of them largely being a Warrior-Servant design, rather than the Builder-designed Sentinels.

Crawlers are said to be very similar to Sentinels. And Soldiers are just AI.

Watchers, on the other hand, are actually very interesting. They are one in the same with the Knights. Watchers are technically composed Forerunners/Humans. When a Knight releases its Watcher, it’s basically splitting a part of its soul into the Watcher.

The soldiers being AI is interesting. They gloat and trash talk which is something you don’t hear often.

The soldiers were built to fight against Humans.

Whatever the soldiers are, they’re annoying and bland.
I hope they either get nerfed or forgotten in Halo 5.

I was under the impression that, at the very least, Soldiers and Knights were Composed, but not necessarily Crawlers and Watchers. It is explained in Halo: Silentium that the Didact had Composed Promethean-level Forerunners to protect Requiem. Also, note the surge in Promethean Knights and Soldiers in Halo 5, which I believe is related to the Composing of both Ivanoff Research Station and New Phoenix in Halo 4.

The soldiers are not composed, they are pretty much robots. They are manufactured in bulk, while Knights are all composed people.

I was unaware of that. Makes it seem even more strange because Soldiers in Halo 5 SPEAK but Knights do not.

Well if the knights could speak, then they would probably sound like "OH MY GOD I AM IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN F@#K YOU DIDACT YOU JERK! IMMA KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU PEOPLE! OWW!
Being a Knight is not fun.

I always assumed the sudden resurgence of the Promethean Soldiers had to do with the Guardians. Like, maybe they were stored in the same place as the Guardians, and were activated once the Guardians began to activate.

Not me . I like that they kind of became what the knights were in halo 4 by having the ability to teleport and I find it cool that they can use human and covenant technologies. I just hope that they find a way to make them more interesting . Maybe their could be a soldier with an active camouflage ? Or one with some kind of promethean melee weapon , such as a hard light spear .

I never noticed the crying Knight in H5 until I read about it in Haruspis’ blog. Very tragic and fascinating.

Also quite hypocritical that Cortana now uses them to her own ends.

Do you have a link to that I can see? Sounds very interesting, and sad, very sad.

Dude, literally everything about Cortana is hypocritical, from her dialogue to her actions. It is not Cortana gone bad, more like the Anti-version of her.
At least in my opinion.

Blog Post

It is basically this what Haruspis said in his Level by Level analysis:.

> Most importantly though, we see that 343 has suddenly remembered to characterise the Prometheans beyond being a horde of mindless drone forces. Because all throughout the game, it’s like 343 has either forgotten or just not bothered to do anything with the huge revelation in Halo 4 that the Knights are actually Composed humans – from 100,000 years ago, and from the seven million Composed inhabitants of New Phoenix.
> The Knight seems to be almost crying, holding its head in its hands, leaning up against the side of the cell wall, and occasionally lashing out in a vain effort to try and escape. Buck notes that he actually feels sorry for the Knight.
> It raises an interesting question of what the Knights do when they’re not just killing people. These are human ‘souls’ that have been hideously malformed to be put into war machines, it adds another layer of perversity to Cortana’s plan because these are her footsoldiers. These are humans who have been turned into AIs and forcibly enslaved to kill people, which just makes Cortana’s tantrums about the “threat” she lived under as an AI ring utterly hollow when she is doing the exact same thing she accuses her human creators of doing.
