> "From a player feedback perspective, we heard the requests to earn XP per-match outside of Challenges as well as to have XP Boost timers only count down while in a match. One of the items that wasn’t fully there in the Tech Preview was our Daily Challenge model that provides Challenges along the lines of “Play X Number of Games” that will repeat throughout the day. These Challenges are replaced after completion and provide a regular XP drop for your Battle Pass just for playing matches and having fun during your sessions with Halo Infinite. The Weekly Challenges are where you will see your more specific challenges that you might recognize from other games; for example, “Get 10 kills with a Battle Rifle.” There is significantly greater depth with the Weekly Challenges than you saw in the Tech Preview that we will go through in the future."

Seems like a roundabout way of saying “Yes, just wait guys. You’ll have more opportunities to progress the BP.”
This bit is also confusing
> “These Challenges are replaced after completion and provide a regular XP drop for your Battle Pass just for playing matches and having fun during your sessions with Halo Infinite.”
Replaced with what? The same challenge?
Idk did I read this wrong? It seems like a flowery way of saying they’re not changing the XP system.
I guess we’ll see later this month.
Hope 343 can turn this around. It’s not looking great and I’m already not supporting them for monetizing armor colors and stripping away basic player expression.
its pretty simple. The daily challenge will be “complete x amount of games” that will be replaced by another compelte challenge. This was in the flight but would not always refresh given it was not functioning properly.
They wont change this, especially not for launch. Change could come later but I would not get my hopes up.
All that really matters is people feel like they are getting progress each match (whether thats challenge or bp). The worry was the challenges would only be for specific actions and you would run out. Based on this, thats onyl how weekly challenges work and your dailies are non objective based and refresh on competion making players gain progress each game (one way or another). Not perfect as I would prefer per match xp but ill take this version over nothing.
You think it would be quite easy to have a base “play 10 games” challenge… which is easily accessible… so that every game you ever play gives you a base XP.
Problem solved.
It’s up to 343 to then make the other challenges more enticing - both interest and XP wise.

I think the worry is moreso that there is 0 reward or progression once the battlepass is complete. can’t see myself grinding infinite like previous games when there’s nothing to show for it once you finish a bp.
I’m just MOSTLY concerned with how this challenge based reward system will impact Gameplay. Players will now be forced to use X weapon X amount of times to complete a challenge. This will absolutely impact Sandbox decision making and encourage players to prioritize weapons they wouldn’t normally use or are terrible with in order to get that XP boost. You should received ordinary XP for simply playing the game with Challenges providing an extra boost.
“Oh but there will be Challenges for just playing”
It is anti-consumer from the perspective of time in game… many people can’t grind out 10 games in a session in order to complete a ‘games played’ challenge. You might jump on in an afternoon after work to play a couple of games and have to jump off? there will be no XP progression reward unless you go for specific Weapon challenge. STUPID. No Battle pass progress at all. This will be even more of an issue if challenges expire within certain timeframes.
Please provide an XP progression system outside of the Battlepass
Seasonal Battle pass I’m perfectly fine with with regular content drops and something to play for content wise COOL
I’m not OK with the idea of no recognition of time spent in Game outside of Battlepass (If seasons reset every month we NEED some kind of XP system for simple time spent in game? LIKE PREVIOUS HALO TITLES. (H3, H4, H5) people grinded for YEARS for the 5 Star General and are still grinding H5 to this day for their 152.
I hope it doesn’t turn into MCC where unless you are doing challenges, there is no reason to play to be honest, even though it has XP Progression towards a level it takes 1.2 BILLION XP or more.

there was zero rewards when you completed progression in reach. There was zero rewards after unlocking th armor in 3 (which was not xp based but achievemment based). People just like filling up bars and if they keep adding weekly capstone rewards outside of the BP (which it seems is how they are designing it alongside the fracture unlocks) then people will be fine for the 3 moths till the next season.

I grind because I enjoy playing halo. I enjoy winning games.

I’m curious to know if Challenges have to be ‘activated’ before you start working toward them.
If you boot up and jump strait into a match, and afterward you see that the match has counted towards its completion, then it’s essentially just the same as match complete XP, except it’s saved up and dumped after X amount of matches.
I understand the issues surrounding performance XP.
I’m not sure if this is in or out (presuming out), but if I play well in a match in MCC, like lots of medals, I get a higher XP payout compared to when I have a bad match.
Obviously playing well is going to apply to many Challenges, but a suggestion could be to have constantly rolling challenges for earning different medal rarities. That way, when you get a spree or a large multi kill, you know it’s counting towards something.
I personally like the xp system and seeing a rank go up over time. Sure it might just show my overall play time but I like displaying that and seeing what other peoples play time is as well. Play time doesn’t mean one is good per say but it is an interesting statistic for me to view and see before and after matches. Challenges seem to be an okay addition to this game, however, I don’t really like the idea of that being it. Like another person stated, not being able to complete a challenge due to lack of time stinks! It would be one thing if the said challenge just gave you a huge xp boost but this isn’t the case. In the end, it is what it is and they have clearly decided to stick with that they have currently. I just hope it works for the majority not the minority.
