What if there was a separate game-line, like in Halo 2? I think that would be sick (I loved that idea in Halo 2). Or maybe, when Chief comes out of his cryo-sleep, he sends a transmission, the Sangheli and the USMC triangulate it and come for him. They meet this new threat, and Arby assists Chief in his survival.
Or, we can splice those two ideas together.
Arby doesn’t directly meet up with Chief, but that is his goal. He goes to the transmission source of Chief and you have to play through to meet up with him.
I am envisioning a cutscene already…
After playing about half way through the game, occasionally alternating between the two heros, the player finds Chief wandering through a scene/forest/junkyard/desert/snow/Lady Gaga’s dressing room/etc, cautiously, aiming down the sights of his AR. Cortana says “Keep your eyes peeled, Chief”. The silence fills your ears. Chief hears a rustling behind him, and whips around, prepared to fire. Through the foliage/dust/junk/debris/Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress/etc, you see Arby part through, also suspicious of what lies ahead of him behind his obstructed view, energy sword ignited. They both realize it’s the other and lower their weapons. Chief says something curt and sarcastic, yet appreciative, while Arby says something deep and wise and just plain badass.
Awww, yeah. Chills already :}
First of all, the “USMC” (United States Marine Corps) does not exist in Halo. It’s the “UNSC” (United Nations Space Command).
Second, I dislike your idea. I want to play as Chief and Chief only in H4. I don’t want to be playing the rescuer when the person who needs “rescuing” is a hyper lethal, extremely experienced super soldier who already saved all sentient life in the galaxy once before.

And that is the exact reason why people didnt like halo 2, halo ODST, or halo reach. They are too stuck up with master cheif to see a good idea when it hits them in the face.
To OP, sounds really good to me, but i think you should say that for halo 5, as its likely halo 4 is already plotted out.
I loved the Arby missions so much! I hope there are some in Halo 4.
Whhhoooopppsss, I had a simple typo there, bud. I meant UNSC. But, thanks for civilly pointing that out, friend!
And ok, you dislike my idea…good job! Opinions are opinions, and they all matter in this topic. That’s why I made this topic; to discuss.
And, yes, Chief is a super soldier, who is lethal to anyone and anything…but if he’s on a foreign world without any sort of transportation, and also being HIGHLY valuable to the human race’s defense, then I think even Master Chief himself may need an occasional pick-up. I nevefr said he couldn’t handle himself.

Yeah, good point. I am quite sure it is already made and plotted, but, hey, it’s fun to brainstorm, isn’t it? Lol

I wouldn’t say those were the reasons people didn’t like those games. The reason I say I want Chief is because we haven’t had him in 5 years. He IS the main character of the franchise, after all. He has an amazing story behind him.
I liked Halo 2, and I also enjoyed the Covie missions. I had no problems with ODST (except for the story being so skippy), and I really like the Reach campaign as well.
If someone doesn’t like Halo 2, it’s usually because the Covie missions were on the boring side.
For ODST, it’s probably because the story is so skippy AND it was sold at full retail price as an expansion game.
I can tell you with confidence that the reason people dislike Reach is much more related to multiplayer than campaign.
You say that being stuck to one character is a bad thing. From a story telling standpoint, it’s quite the contrary. I don’t think people are “too stuck up” on Chief so that they’re blinded to a good idea. But IMO, he’s the better character, and the franchise revolves mostly around him.
I don’t care if he’s playable or not (maybe for Co-op), but, I just want the Arbiter in the game.
The lack of Arby missions ruined Halo 3’s campaign for me.
But I don’t think that we will see the Arbiter anytime soon, I am thinking for of the sort of Halo 5.
> I can tell you with confidence that the reason people dislike Reach is much more related to multiplayer than campaign.
Yeah about that…
Are you forgetting that Reach’s campaign craps all the Fall of Reach and Ghost of Onyx or something?
OT: I wouldn’t mind seeing Arby, I’m just not sure how he pans into Halo4 and all.
I mean Arby’s got to rebuild/keep to gather his people, not save an enemy.
I want him in the game, but as far as having him playable goes…idk. I’m not the bothered tbh. If it’s there I’ll be happy, if not…doesn’t matter.
I’d love to see the Arbiter return and maybe play as him in CoOp but H4 is supposed to be about the Chief, so nope to your idea
i would really like to know more about Thel and see if they are friends or just companions, if Thel is a friend he will be looking for John, in halo 3 they didnt communicate much so we didnt know the personal feelings of each other like do they trust each other? are they willing to help each other?
I would love to see The Arbiter return, elites are awesome and I was very happy when I could play as him in Halo 2. But I also want more MC in Halo 4, I just want the feeling back as when I first played Halo: CE and Halo 2. (When I look back to Halo 3 I am a little bit disappointed, the campaign felt too hasty). The Arbiter can return in the last few missions in Halo 4 and then play a big part in Halo 5 or something. I definitely don’t want the elites gone, they are the most awesome badass alien race ever. So I was sad when I never saw them in Halo 3, only in 2 missions for a few minutes…
i dont think were getting a covie campaigne for halo 4 because its starting a new trilogy and the game is suposed to talk about master chief. besides the covie’s suck i love killing them.
I’d love to take up the role of Arbiter again. To me the Master Chief is a critical character but he doesn’t define Halo to me, the Halo universe is much bigger than the Chief. To play as the Arbiter and find out what happens to him and the Sanghelli would be amazing. To be honest I’d like to see what happens to everyone involved with the Halo games, the Rookie, Buck and co, Jun, Half-Jaw, Hood…
Much as I thought it was a great idea in H2, the main hype around h4 is John’s return. Playing as another character for some of the game might not sit well with a lot of fans.
Maybe in H5. Bornstellar-Didact, plz.

This. No one appreciated the idea of your own spartan in campaign, everyone was all I WANNA PLAY AS THE CHIEF NO!
If the Arbiter is in the game, it’ll be interesting to see how they do it. No one knows how long the Chief was in the cryo tube before he 'wakes up" in the teaser trailer. How much time has passed? Do the covenant still have an Arbiter? If so is it the same elite that became the Arbiter in Halo 2? I don’t know about playing as the Arbiter, but I think it would be cool if he made an appearance.
Give me the chief only please!
