Arbiter having the new elite body style in H5

Do you guys feel it was necessary to change the way Arbiter looked in H5? What do you guys think, because imo, It didn’t feel true to halo and there is no stupid lore excuse they can use for something so small… I understand why they changed the armor, because he is the kaidon and it looks Awesome imo but it was just bugging me that they changed his actual body.

Give me your feedback and opinions.

His armor or his appearance? Neither is really a big deal. Being the leader of his faction it makes sense he’d get a flashy new suit. Appearance. More annoying than anything. Not the first time Elites appearance changed and probably won’t be the last.

If you’re talking about his body, ignore that. Canonically, he still falls under the Halo 2 Anniversary phenotype. The only reason he uses the Halo 4/5 phenotype is because of real-world budget/time constraints.

In regards to his armor, I’m fine with it. It’s meant to pay homage to historical kaidons and Arbiters while still being modern.

Love the armor, but as someone said it was budget and time thing for his appearance

Its because 343 did not have the time to make another sangheili phenotype.

I like his design.

the majority of Halo fans and casual fans won’t even notice the difference. I didn’t. I was just happy to see him in Halo 5.

To be fair, it’s kind of hard to notice the difference when his head is pretty much fully encased by the helmet, and the mandible guards don’t give away that it’s the Halo 4/5 mouth. The only other real difference is that he looks a lot heftier.

I don’t mind that he has the other Elite model in place of a unique one as videogame development is resource intensive and it just makes sense to use the same model. Even Halo 2-3 did that and they got away with it.That is to say that all Elites have the same body excluding armors of course because it’s a lot of work to make individual Elite. Considering that you can just slightly mod an existing model, it’s wasn’t a big deal then and it’s not now. Considering where he shows up and under the circumstances I am more willing to forgive that considering you can still tell it’s him. If we could accept Master Chief in Halo: Reach with the Spartan 3 model I’m pretty sure the community can accept something like this.

His armor is dope asf im just talking about the appearance… and why 343 would use the ugly Elite design for him. If he is in halo 6 it would be cool to see the halo 2 body style with the new armor.

As others have pointed out time and budget limitations forced 343 to go with the 4/5 model but he canonically remains the H2A model. Hopefully with the increased time for Halo 6 they are able to implement both models where appropriate.

I didn’t like it - if I saw a still and nobody said it was him, I would think it was just some other ‘Storm’ variant. Hate the way his face is obscured like some nightmarish ghoul, no nobility to him at all.

His armor is cool. We saw him in H2A with the armor but the old Elite Body design. If they made him look like that I’d be happy. 343 just please give us back the right Thel 'Vadam

EchoLoco2, you are very true! he looked so badass with kaidon armor in H2A, I don’t understand why they didn’t use that model instead!

yeah my brother’s always like “you’re just nit picking! I didn’t notice anything” but i totally did. My brother isn’t really a big Halo fan so it figures. I however am i big Halo fan. The art style difference is still very prominent.

I remembered the first time I saw it,I thought to myself why couldn’t they just make him like they did in h2a

I know! I don’t understand people who say they don’t notice a difference!

Well i think the body shouldnt have been changed and that goes for all the elites and not just the Arbiter. The H4/H5g elite design is something that I think was just unnecessary change just for the sake of change to the worse. Hopefully in the future titles the artstyle of the elites will be at least more like H2As even though even in that the elites skin looks diseased.

And the armor. It makes sense given the Arbiter armor he had is just really outdated though iconic. I still dislike the look of the new armor though. I kind of hoped that when they reintroduced the Arbiter they would have just kept the Arbiter armor design because it is iconic to the elites in the game too and simply making armor upgrades wouldnt have been the craziest thing when compared to the other artstyle/universe decisions that have been made during/after H4, like the, uh, change of artstyle of a ship split in half that has been floating around the space. Obviously its about the appearance of the back half of the forward unto dawn.

indeed, they should’ve just kept the old armor, but upgrade it a bit, to allow for better active-camo and such.
