So by far the most requested thing in Halo infinite was playable elites. And despite that request they said it’s not happening. People agree due to balancing but that can fixed so easily. Think about make the new design a tad smaller no one will notice and keep them in custom lobbys and select casual lobbies. If you want it in competitive make an ALL elite playlist. I know this has been talked about probably a billion times. But I think it’s odd that they flat out said no. I am praying they don’t kill Arbiter in the storyline because I want to see them meet again. (Yes, i know they re-met in the books. But that’s a terrible ideas to have major elements of the story in a DIFFERENT medium.) He’s also a huge fan favorite and they’d only get bonus points for putting him in. You know how many haters would fold if they hear they added back elites at fans request people would FLOCK!! Anyway that’s my two cents I don’t think it’s that complicated perosnally.
There is already an elite thread, also just cause I am here. Think about this outside of the gameplay implications. Adding elites also means adding a comprehensible cosmetic system for that and would actually increase the number of cosmetics needed to satiate both players (spartan and elites). Given new armor is going to be coming out on a 3 month period with special event armor, it’s best to limit it to one species so no preference is left out. Sure those who liked elites in reach miss out but elites have not been in multiplayer for years so there should be 0 expectation there are playable elites
If everyone is a spartan, everyone gets the same amount of armor from the BP, thus increasing its value. Everyone can feel the need to go for the event armor, challenge armor etc. It just makes things easier for them.

I wouldn’t say the two meeting for a brief moment is a ‘major element of the story’ honestly, and what’s the point of the books if they can’t tell meaningful stories then? Just have the games do something to catch people up real quick, like “As you know, earlier we <did X event in Y book>, that’s why we’re here now.”
That said, the quickest way for Elites to happen is to wait for the Modding Tools to do it. Infinite and MCC both are going to have them, so within a week of launch I guarantee you there’ll be lobbies with them + pilotable Pelicans / Scarabs. I’d rather play as a Jackal or Skirmisher myself though - Love them sniper birds.
