Has anyone noticed how powerful the AR is? Ever since 343 put up the weekly/monthly challenges for kills with an automatic weapon, everyone has started to use it more. I find it next to impossible to win a 1 on 1 with either a DMR or BR vs an AR.
So my question is did the AR become more powerful during the last update or has it always been this powerful and I’m just now noticing it?
It’s been that way. It takes 16 bullets to take kill a player, down from about 22(?) from Reach.
They really wanted it to actually be used this time, instead of everyone picking the DMR/BR just because it has more ammo and killing power than everything else except for the covie verion of it like in Halos 2-Reach.
The same thing happened in Reach. When a challenge for automatics came up, more players were willing to use it. A lot of people admitted to how much more fun this made the game since it caused people to move more often.

Or you can get with the program and use a weapon with more skill like the DMR or BR. But forreal the AR can beat the DMR at medium range sometimes so it needs to be nerfed ASAP and needs to be like the H3 AR. It lowers the skill gap alot and I have seen somebody go like 23-2 because the AR is overpowered. This game really needs to be alot less noob friendly.
The assault rifle needs to be on par with the other primary load-outs.

We need an automatic weapon that can compete with the DMR and BR and AR fits the slot perfectly nothing is wrong with it. WE DON’T WANT TO SUCK AGAIN. No OP. No need for buff. Got it DMR noobs. Yes I’m talking to you Mr. I died from the AR at medium range.

Yeah there is something wrong with it. Its Overpowered and needs to be nerfed. I figured that out when i saw my friend go 20 kills and 5 deaths using only the AR and Jetpack which is not right.

I’m laughing. The AR is meant to burn those down at closer ranges, where they dominate at longer ones. L2Strategy.

Nope. The DMR dominates at mid-long unless you’re just going body shots like a scrub, and if you’re doing that with the gun that does 50% of the work for you you should start being ashamed of yourself. Don’t get mad at a close range weapon for doing its job against you because you didn’t think before you fought.

It’s not overpowered when it’s a limited range weapon which requires knowledge of positioning and fire control to use against a mid-range target, footwork in the form of knowing how and when to strafe, duck and jump in a way that benefits you the most and is in the same game full of precision mid-long range weapons.
As for you opinion of games not being “noob friendly”, here’s a thought: Maybe 343i actually wanted to, I don’t know, bring people into the Halo games? Maybe they wanted people to buy them, and have enough people buy them that they made significant profit. Maybe, and I know this is a stretch but maybe, they realized the 10% of players who are tryhard grognards too obsessed with a little number in their profile were an insignificant minority that most people don’t like in the first place, and decided not to cater to these people.
If you don’t like the game, why are you even here.

Ha ha…I thought you just said the DMR takes skill.
Ah yes, surely being 100 ft away with a gun with great RoF and only a 5 shot kill takes skill. No loss at damage over range either. I almost thought you were serious.

The H4 AR takes 16 shots to kill. The Reach AR took 22 shots to kill. I dont remember how many shots the H3 AR took but it was the best AR in Halo multiplayer IMO because it actually was perfect because it beats the BR at close range and the BR beats it at medium range. But however thats not really the case in H4 50% of the time. And I wasnt going for body shots I was going for headshots. Also the DMR takes skill especially at close range battles.

The DMR doesnt take as much skill at long range unless u get descoped but it takes skill at close range.
Love the AR finally doesn’t suck and is a viable choice. It’s my personal favourite weapon to use. It’s a close range weapon and has it’s own nitch.
I hope it doesn’t get nerfed it’s fine.
