i go with SMG
SMG all the way.
Assault Rifle has the coolest skins.
Assault Rifle’s attachments and scopes come sooner.
Assault Rifle’s supposed to be good at medium range.
SMG’s got the superior firepower even at AR range.
So yeah. I almost always swap to SMG when it’s available. I’m sure there’s some folks who can still use the AR effectively even in the REQ 4+ stage of games, but I’m not one of those people xD
I still wish we could have the attachments on the Hybrid/COG/Morph scopes. The Morph and COG scopes are pretty cool.
Smg for WZA.
AR for everything else.

Remember, the AR just sucks in Halo 5.

I trust Chief’s instincts. AR all the way. That SMG has piss-poor range IMO and I don’t like to operate that close to the enemy if I don’t have to.
Assault Rifle. SMG is nice for CQC, but I prefer to keep my enemies further away from me.

I don’t mind the SMG, but I’ve had my moments with the AR.
I’d rock with the SMG.
I like the AR more, but by a small margin. It’s more versatile. I typically alternate between the two.
They have pros and cons, like every other gun. Generally I prefer the SMG - mid to long range is handled by the BR, SMG takes care of the nitty gritty up close. Mostly though for some reason I have better success with SMG-melees than AR-melees.

Depends on the situation I’m stuck into. Every weapon has its ups and downs so yeah it really depends on the situation.

Which games you playing that it seems like you get better melee with the smg?
The closer the fight the smg, and since I have my magnum for distance I’m going with smg.
