I know this is a flight test but
Dang the AR is the meta-for this game right now it’s becoming stale. AR and BR are the most reliable gun in the game. Every other gun is Feeling like a peashooter compared to those two like it’s not putting much damage on shields but the AR is shredding everyone and needs to be look at before launch….Not sure if this is a bug or what? But it can’t be in the final game…

No it’s not
In 4v4 with small maps, yeah, it’s dominating. On wide open maps like behemoth, I haven’t found it to be as effective.
The new Behemoth map is out, but I wanted to say everything here before it released. I have Live Fire and Bazaar in mind.
I’m a PC player and I will sometimes waste an entire AR clip on an enemy and not get a kill despite tracking them pretty well in the middle section of Bazaar. At some point when going full auto the gun becomes so inaccurate that you cannot get the fastest kill time by holding down the trigger.
I’m no slouch. I have a positive K/D in most of my matches and when I lose I still generally don’t lose with a really bad K/D. That applies to CTF and stronghold (territories) too.
The pistol might be pretty good but I suck at that weapon as bad as I do the VK78 Commando. I have no idea how some people are able to land fast paced shots on someone else because the way people move in this game is like CS:GO. There’s no player momentum, you can shift left and right or lunge so quickly that you can’t smoothly react. I can use it sporadically but the AR is my preferred weapon just because I reliably get more kills out of it.
I should also say that I don’t zoom in when using the AR.
all the weapons are good if you know how to use them.
agreed. the crossmap assault rifle slugfests are unfun.
it really isnt. Outshooting an AR at mid to long range is pretty easy, especially if you trade your weapon for a tier 2 that fits that range. BR at mid to long range? Your gonna win if you hit your shots. Commando at mid to long range? Your gonna win if you hit your shots. Bulldog at close range? Your gonna win if you hit your shots (even just one cause you can kill with a 1 -Yoink- melee combo).
The AR is an all arounder weapon that gives people a fighting chance. However, Its outshot consistently by tier 2 weapons in their respective ranges if the player with the tier 2 is any level of competant. Thats the point. Tier 2 weapons require more skill but gives greater rewards in their respective ranges. AR requires less skill and is less effective at respected ranges compared to tier 2 counter parts, but can win a fight if the opponent messes up.

I understand that precision rifles take more skill but that negates the fact that the assault rifle is still OP no matter how you slice it up I could be the most skill BR wielder or pistol whipper in the world and if the assault rifle is still to OP than I’m going to lose the gunfight no matter what because it’s still to over powered especially at its close range encounters… this is halo what you described is halo to an extent but not the full pie…
The AR(andthe pistol too) is a good starting weapons but he will be outgun by everything :
- Long range : Commando/BR/Carabine a impulsion/ shock rifle and the pistol
- Short range : Bulldog needler heatwave commando and himself.
Good weapon when you start who can somewhat win if the ennemy dosen’t know wtf he’s doing.

But it’s not, it was stronger in the last flight the way it should’ve been, it’s weak and garbage in this flight. You guys just want a nerf gun and you’ll get it I’m sure at launch. It’ll be useless just like in halo 3,4,5, and reach
Better than the BR meta -Yoink- I’ve had to deal with for years.

The entire game especially on small maps is an AR meta you know what that means right ??? So rethink you’re logic here and ask yourself is the AR currently over powered? Yes indeed it is… if it’s over powered this flight I couldn’t imagine what it was last flight… at the same time having said that the aim is wonky as can be currently so maybe that’s part of the issue…

Totally disagree BR high skill reward more time spent dedicating hours into a game>>>>>>> AR low skill reward less time spent dedicating hours in to a game

I think all inputs are struggling at this point 343 has a lot of work and ironing out the aim before launch…

No they are not that bs the entire game has an aiming issue which makes this comment very invalid… if the aim gets improved than I can see your point as that was the original intent but the developers have either a bug on there hands or do hey intentionally made it this way and there is no arguing this 80-90 percent of the forum knows there something wrong with the aim…
The AR right now is insanely OP. It outplays mid range to far range weapons, has a headshot modifier and doesn’t get descoped while ADS.
It out performs pretty much every weapon. I thought it was laughable that I was just running around with it and outplaying everyone by just burst firing it at all ranges.
When I’d rather use it over the Br and commando then there is a serious issue
I wouldn’t say every gun, but, regardless, I agree it could use a slight nerf. Not too much because it makes the game accessible to new players, but that can’t come at the cost of any long term interest when everyone is running around w an AR over so much of the sandbox. Pretty ridiculous that body shots, even missing a few, leads to faster kills than a perfect 4 shot BR.
No, AR must stay as it is, it is the ideal weapon to start social games and to be able to have a balance between new players and veteran players. I’m tired of everything having to focus on making the BR the only viable weapon.

So you’re logic is a give a crutch to new players but not only that let’s make the entire game an AR meta? Because that’s exactly what infinte is right now and it actually might be due to the wonky aim mechanics themselves and not the actual function of the weapons themsleves but anyway Yea that logic is flawed buddy…
