AR, Dash and sprint... make halo frustrating

First off, i don’t mind change. I actually like H4 (apart from the ordnance drops).

But the AR’s power/range is creating too many campers. I’m already sick of playing against players that just sit round corners then jump out being all pro with their AR.

Then the dash combined with the sprint just makes it too easy to get away. I’ve had far too many scenarios where players camp to get kills but just dash/sprint away when they get shot first.

Worst Halo yet, even worse than Reach… and that’s saying something.

Just gonna throw this out here, but you probably love the BR right?

Yep. But that doesn’t mean i’m being bias

Ya he probably does. Slightly decent players like the BR. Scrubs spray and pray with their ARs

I just run around looking for combat, I never wait for the enemy because I’m not one of those players who’s afraid to die. Mobility is what I love in a game and Halo reach was when I first fell in love with halo. Sprint was the only armor ability I ever used (evade in invasion) because I could run straight into a fight. Meeting combat was my favorite thing in halo. Halo 4, with sprint being compulsory, I could play around I little more. Often being a deceiver by using hologram on the small/medium maps, showing me the location of campers, then as they start to reload after realizing that was a hologram I jump in and slaughter not with an AR, but a storm rifle.

Halo 5. Thrusters, sprint, clamber. All this mobility has giving me joy, with so many halo players not being used to this type of movement, I feel like I have some weird unknown advantage (Have you heard of Armored Core For Answer? I was really good with the thrusters on that game, avoiding damage and keeping my distance for guns or getting close enough for the laser blades)

They AR. Now, that I’m not sure about. In Halo CE it was useless as everyone used the pistol, you needed to be incredibly close and avoid the three hit kill which is hard when when four individuals are shooting at you from a multitude of ranges. But it you could the shield down you had a nearly guaranteed kill. Halo 3 it required exactly half the mag to kill a fully shielded opponent but with the reticle you again had to be really close for a guaranteed kill, which it shouldn’t as that was what the SMG is meant to be for. Half the time there was no point keeping the AR as everyone used the BR and slaughtered players who didn’t have one. Halo reach 19 instead of 16, had reticle bloom which allowed the AR to be used at slightly longer ranges, giving it more of a chance. But a skilled player could take one down with the DMR or if they’re lucky and spray with the magnum the’yll win as well. Halo 4 half a mag required to kill. But since you could choose what to start with not many people actually used it as the BR was the favorite, to which an AR would lose against 9/10, and even if it was close range against the AR would lose to the other two automatics. (I did a 3v1 with some buddies and the map was skyline, used a suppressor and they used everything, camo, AR, BR, DMR, autosentry, they spammed with grenades but because I just moved so quickly they couldn’t get decent hits. Won 30 to 12)
Now, the Halo 5 Ar, it doesn’t feel more powerful but it does feel a little more accurate and with smart scope the range increases. it is still a beta and things could change but for now I’ve often found having minimum one teammate with you, if they’re not following you, you follow them. I play with my friends and because I run in like a -Yoink!- they’re often following me, because I have their support I usually gain the kill and the most kills overall of the match but I also get the most deaths because of my playstyle.
In fact that playstyle got me an extermination, because i died I spawned somewhat behind the enemy as the were running towards the indoor sniper spawn, they killed I think all my teammates (I’ll have to check) I assassinated one, threw a grenade which took down one guys shield, nearly took down another and finished one off, the third kill I whipped out the magnum (thinking the shields were down on the guy I was aiming at) Fired like crazy took down his shields and claimed a headshot, last guy tried to shoulder charge me, I thrusted backwards went back to the AR and killed him since he already had no shields.

For now, lets just be thankful the AR can’t headshot, And I would recommend keeping your distance if you like to use the BR or DMR since if you hit them they lose the smart scope, can’t get as close with the BR as you used to be able to. And grenades don’t bounce up as much in this game so you’ll need to figure out wall and ceiling bounces and again, trail an ally or ask a friend to trail you.
No one’s perfect first time, stuff can take time to get used to

The assault rifle is meant to be used at close range, and why are you running straight into them with a BR expecting to get a kill? That’s not how the games designed, if you keep running into corner campers throw a grenade or thrust out of the way, or follow teammates. complaining because your traditional playstyle has been devalued, of which BR is a godly weapon that only good players use, and those who dare us assault rifles or SMG’s are bad even when they kill you.

I do agree with removing smart scope though, Assault rifles need to be just a little less accurate and have a little less range. But now atleast you can fight someone at medium range with a BR, it’s no longer a “You lose for not having this gun” Scenario.

OMG quit whining. It’s obvious your just frustrated because you’re not happy with your performance in the game. Practice, get better and have fun. If it’s not a fun, don’t play, simple. The game itself is awesome and is extremely well balanced. It most certainly doesn’t allow campers to prosper. Yes, the AR is a good CQC weapon which will more times than not take out a magnum or BR when used in that range. The AR will lose however when used at medium range against the BR. Adjust your gameplay and improve or move on.
As for the other people on here that call people scrubs based on their weapon choices, get a fu&$ing life. Use whatever resources are at your disposal to get a kill and expect your opponents to do the same. Period.

Yeah scrubs do, experts burst fire in intervals of 3 and crouch/thruster side to side.

You know its been like this for a long time. Around the corner, behold a man with a shotgun/smg/needler/sword/dual needler/dual smg/rocket launcher/ fuel rod/ and like everything else that quickly takes out a player? Besides the AR is fine, some good strafing and thrust can really throw them off.
