AR bullet drop off?

Currently I like how the AR functions in close to mid range encounters, but I do admit it does a little too well at longer ranges. Rather than nerf the spread, (which would effect mid range) or nerf the damage(which would effect the close range viability). I believe it should have a similar mechanic similar to the mangler, where in close to mid range, the bullets are hit-scan like. While the farther the ranges, the steeper the dropoff. This would effectively give larger incentive for pistol use at further ranges, while giving the BR or Commando a stronger advantage. I personally think that descope should also exist for the AR and pistol. I don’t care if the zoom doesn’t increase accuracy, it’s still a ranged advantage.
