Judging by the majority of the gameplay vids that we have seen from E3, the AR has inadequate damage compared to other weapons of the primary weapon section, and tends to bloom far too quickly. If you were to change the AR from the current state, what would you change???
I would personally either increase the mag cap or increase damage.
Doesn’t need more ammo, the magazine size is already perfect.
It needs to be the same as Reach, with a 2x multiplier for each headshot after shields pop. Assuming the weapon has the same rate of fire and body damage, it would shave 4 shots off a kill, rewarding for paced headshots.
Lower the aim assist and bullet magnetism outside very close range, and it will be fine.
Lower levels will spray and not be successful, enough of a reward for not aiming, with bursting and the headshot bonus making the weapon a bit more viable all-around.
I would increase damage slightly (but not much at all), reduce bloom (or at least the visual representation of it) to make it seem a bit more controllable, and perhaps round out the ammo capacity. I honestly don’t think capacity is the issue though - as long as you can get at least one kill per clip, the AR is fine. If it seems to be weak, it seems likely to me that it’s just hard to control, especially judging by that insane bloom. 343 Industries just needs to tweak the handling of the weapon, really.

It will beat the DMR & BR at the range it is intended for, close range.
The Assault Rifle is fine, the fact all you need to do is spray with it for a kill while you have to actually aim with the DMR & BR means it doesn’t need a buff either.
The AR in Reach is fine, you gotta learn how to use it. Frankly any buffs to the ammo, bloom or damage will just encourage even more “Spray and Pray”, which currently doesn’t reward victories.
