Hey there. Ok, so I’ve been surfing through the Infinite forums, and there seems to be a slowly-building wave of confusion and agitation over what amounts to a lack of effective communication (or just enough communication in general.) The stem of this wave seems mostly started as a response to the unfortunate way (no blame here, delays happen) that info got released (product promotions with their own time schedules), combined with a minor-but-vague-enough-to-be-troubling post following it up. (BEFORE YOU LOCK THIS THREAD TOO MODS PLEASE HEAR ME OUT, I promise I won’t mention “aormr coitgans.”)

People love Halo, and for good reason. Adopting an orphaned franchise like it is always going to come with a large degree of passion, which IS ultimately a good thing (though in what way that passion gets directed is anyone’s guess.) I say this because I think 343 have gotten more than their fair share, from day one (Halo 4.) (And for the record, I look back on Halo 4 pretty dang fondly, even the mutliplayer (for any haters out there, it was a long time ago, it was unique, and it’s “archived.” With the passion that they’ve put into MCC years later still, we have no good reason to be upset with the “loss” of old school Halo, I think.

ANYWAY, back to the point. Imo, the community forums are for communications, primarily, from players to players, and from players to devs. If something (good or bad) has them excited, that “pressure” (good or bad) needs to be heard well, and felt. Locking posts because many different people happen to be in consensus on something, and redirecting them to only be able to make their voice heard buried under a post (with a differently-colored original point (heh, see what I did there…) than what they may have been going for) with 180 replies, does not make logical sense for the reason given. Locking posts and redirecting for “consolidating posts on the same topic so as to not fill the forum page” would only make sens if the same person was copy/pasting the literal same post as multiple separate, individual posts…effectively acting as spam. You/the mods are treating people like they are spam, and they are not.

The choice to not respond to the questions and concerns, and to instead muzzle those speaking after having patiently waited half a decade, makes you look way worse than you very well probably are. Seriously guys…if the hubbub over the Infinite info released thus far is misguided and we’re all just a bunch of headless chickens…say something…clear the air…set US straight. If you choose not to, it only confirms suspicions of impending doom. Free-to-play Halo? Open world Halo? Microtransaction-ridden Halo? I mean, it’s been like 20 years, I suppose we can maybe try new things (except that last one…)

Listen, it’s an open secret that development of Infinite has not gone buttery smooth, and I know that the actual reality of that public realization mean tangible, visceral strain for the actual people in the storm of it. Frustration, misscommunication, hurt feelings, long hours, interpersonal headbutting, all that. It sucks, and you deserve space and respect to do what you can to right the ship. But understand that people “complaining” about how it looks to them on the outside is not impatience, it is not whining. It’s passion, it’s concern, it’s love. We love Halo, and we love it’s new daddy. Just please bite the bullet (if there is one) and tell us what you’re going through. Pain now (if there is any) is better than worry + pain later.

Anyway, peace. Hope you guys are doing alright.

(Oh and I understand that a bunch of people yelling about “muh colors!” looks pretty silly. To the fans stating this (more eloquently, I hope) try and look at the bigger picture, and constructively add to that (it’s more important, anyway.) And to the devs seeing this, try to understand that they are picking up on the bigger picture. But that means you are able to, if you want, to tell us what’s up.)

Excellent post.

I would add that there’s not even enough traffic on this forums to warrant redirecting people to certain ‘super’ threads, which themselves kinda crumble under the weight of several concurrent conversations and debates typically by page 10.
