Approach to bots bodes well for campaign AI

I must say the approach to the differing level of bot AI is very reassuring, as I had (and admittedly still do) many unanswered questions on enemy ai.

Also maybe it’s coincidental, but there are 4 levels of Bot difficulty, and there are 4 levels of campaign difficulty. So potentially the differences explained in bot behaviour per difficulty, will be reflected in campaign too.

Finally the fact they’ve been programming AI specifically to deal with human players, just fills me with confidence. Imagine on legendary high ranking enemies can dodge rockets etc… Like Spartan level Bots.

Very promising!

Bots in Halo are not something I thought about, but after reading what 343 has in store, I think it is a welcome addition to the Halo franchise.

This is a great point! I found the A.I. in Halo 4 and 5 lacking, less fun to fight than previous entries, but with the Bot A.I. you’re right that’s a good indicator campaign A.I. is just as good.

This could also mean that Halo Infinite might have the hardest legendary difficulty in the Halo series. I personally really hope this is the case as Halo Infinite seems to be the biggest Halo game of all time, so it’d be really awesome to try to use all the new features and elements in one huge challenge!

LASO Infinite scares me now

I’m excited to see what the bots have in store for us. The bots are such a forward thinking concept for Halo, as it’s really going to help integrate newer players into the style of gameplay that is Halo, without the worry they’re going to be stomped on in matchmaking.

I also can’t wait to spawn kill bots so I can take that knowledge to matchmaking.

I think it would be fantastic if Infinite has what Halo Wars has and give up the 4 main difficulties, and then one based on our own personal skill level. So if even legendary AI is too easy you pros out there can have an adaptive difficulty AI to match you properly.

I really hope this flight stress testing the bots is a big step into the door for using bots and such in forge.

Once they’re there and working. No reason why not

When they announced bots I actually didn’t care about playing against bots themselves but thought of exactly what you just said. Might be a sign that AI in campaign will be better than H5. I really want to find challenge in fighting in campaign against good AI rather than just guns that can melt you in half a second.

Sounds like a great function. Could turn out like COD where the bots just dial in on you from across the map even with the weakest weapons.

Do you think we could see custom firefight maps?

The fact it makes them SMARTER is very reassuring not just for campaign but the bots overall. They’d be such a welcome addition in customs, forge, and matchmaking.

That’s a great thought I hadn’t considered. Clearly, this is going to impact campaign AI!

Quote tweeting just to shout out that dope Nirvana gamertag.

Halo is way behind the curve. everyone else has bots to fill in except halo.

Halo is disrupting the battle pass, setting a new bar in the industry.

The rumors about a version control shell being wrapped around forge with branches, commits, and merges is pushing map customization forward by enabling collaboration in ways we don’t see from other games too. I hope those are true, because it undoubtedly means over time we’re going to get the best forge map set in MP in franchise history.

Let’s hope the other major aspects in Infinite, including bots functionality, set new industry bars too. I think the description from the MP overview implies you can set up and practice specific plays with the bots. Is that standard in the other big competitive shooters? I haven’t played any modern MP games with bots really so I don’t know what to expect lol.

Imagine being able to run an opening map sequence over and over against legendary bots for practice. Or practicing different positioning setups 30 seconds before OS respawns…

Having bot simulations for various gameplay scenarios would be insane. Going back and checking a VOD from a 15 second sequence in a grand final match from pros and being able to replicate it in real-time and adjust your gameplay accordingly would be HUGE for the pro scene, and for people looking to improve at the game in general. Just like looking back at game videos, but more interactive in that you can replay them out in different ways and learn from them.

Yeah in theory it could have the most difficult ‘combat puzzles’ of the franchise, especially if banished ai use equipment too.

In light of the news that they aren’t just upping health and damage for multi bots, my hope is that in campaign on legendary in addition to increasing enemy ranks, they just throw more enemies at us, for a real challenge.

For campaign i do expect some slight tweaking in damage and health values between difficulties though, just nothing too drastic. I expect the big discrepancies, in health and damage output, to be between enemy ranks.
