Ok, so let me start off with I love halo, all of them. (wars and odst included)
now I played the halo 5 beta and instantly thought “wow they’ve ruined the franchise for me” which is undeniably the view many share. However after I went back and played a couple of games on the MCC (which I still thoroughly enjoyed) I began to remember a lot of the pain involved with playing the previous games.
BR fights, I know this is controversial but I cannot stand constant BR battles from one side of the map to the other. People tend to camp and never move. Which leads me to…
Camping, in the old halos camping was ridiculous. Yes you have a sword, but you do not need to hide behind every doorway all game. Same with shotgun, or even rockets. Intact double beat down was an easy camp tactic. I know there are ways to beat campers but they aren’t always easy. Completely ruins the game.
Now in my opinion halo 5 deals with these problems extremely well, if someone is attempting to camp, you have the speed and maneuverability to take them out. A well placed thruster/clamber can get you where you need to be.
again, the maneuverability helps to take away constant long range BR fights. (I know people have strong feelings on the new BR but we arent discussing that here)
those are two points that I feel help halo 5s case, I am now really enjoying the beta. And at the same time I still love the old halos, but I feel its time for these changes, too long have people owned their strafing skills with a BR, meaning new players will never come to the franchise.
and while its a shame those skills aren’t as useful anymore, there are a whole new range of skills to learn.
I’m sorry for the bad spacing I’m on my phone!
what do you think guys?

agreed. The game is changing and with it, most of those flaws are disappearing. People are complaining about nerfing this or that, but they’re quick fixes, not game breakers. Halo 5 is being underappreciated in my opinion and people (including myself) were to,quick to say NO its not the same I miss old halo.
Personally, I found Reach to by my favorite campaign and a tie between H2 and H4 for multiplayer. I’m not worried about nerfing this weapon or that; my concern is that the overhaul in design and gameplay has taken too many cues from Call of Duty. I’m not an irrational CoD hater. I pick up every third game or so. The issue is that I play Halo and CoD because they are fundamentally different. With the H5 beta, the line between the two is uncomfortably blurred. Simply put, the presence of spartans are the only thing that “feels” like Halo to me.

This, so much this. I love them too, and Halo 3 is still probably my overall favorite…that said, I’ll not be the guy to try and ignore how much was wrong with the series. Balance for example was never ever quite right, especially in Halo 2 where there was NO balance at all.
I’m liking the new direction, with all the weapons being pretty much in line with each other and nothing being useless (H2 Magnum) or vastly overpowering (H2 BR). I mean the BR still has issues…but there are ways now to counter it more effectively by a smart player. With the new abilities and zoom feature for weapons like the Assault Rifle, a smart and skilled player can overcome even the old standard workhorse.
I agree
I paid rent playing HCE in college, but as I get older and game more casually I am glad that the game is embracing casuals. Pros can adapt to whatever it is, I see many complaining about closing the skillgap, but I believe those people are BARELY on the cusp of pro rank and that’s why they are upset

the game needs to make room for casual players. Pros did not become pros instantly, they all started at the bottom and got better and better, if people are good at s game they shall enjoy it more and continue to play. If you’re dying 25 times a game with no kills you aren’t going to like it much. Without casuals getting better and going up to higher ranks the game will be stale, I believe the way things are now there are definitely room for casual players, while the pro players (I’ve seen a few) are already pretty well adapted to the game, and wreaking havoc already!
After re playing my favorite (halo CE) I forgot how clunky movement felt and how off aiming was. Sometimes I feel like I should have gotten a 3 shot but it didn’t happen. IDK maybe it’s because CE was a PC port. I still enjoy CE. But halo 5 feels smooth.

Of the original trilogy halo 2 was by far the easiest. If the op prefers more forgiving games than it would make sense that halo 2 would be on the list.
have to agree.
went back to playing some old school halo in halo mcc after several matches in halo 5 beta and I just couldn’t play the old Halo mp much, knowing and having played through all of the advancements in Halo 5 beta.
There needs to be some tweaking to halo 5 but I think it’s off to a good start.
