I know people get tired of returning to the same place we have already been to before but I got to say that I’m excited to return to Apex. While the Phantom waited for me to Rendezvous with it, I decided I would explore the area and see what I could find. So far I found there to be at least four Portals in the area. There is the first one which you shut down after appearing on the map, another found active in a small cave behind a sniper tower and if you walk around that shielded structure the Phantom is hovering next to, you can find another Portal still partially buried in the ground and another which is open but inactive at the same time. It’s just an open glowing hole which you can’t close and if you fall into it you die.
That shielded structure itself is extremely fascinating because if the shield were disabled, you could walk down inside of it and I’m really curious to know what it is and where it leads. Is there another portal down there or something more important? I can’t wait for next week because for once I have a desire to replay a level in hopes that these portals and this structure are explained.
I believe the first chapter in episode 7 takes place on Apex, and is the area behind the shield door.
I know, I’m referring to the first level of Episode 7 because it’s the only time Apex has appeared. You only visit a small area of it however because your mission is scrubbed and you’re recalled to the Infinity. Before leaving the level I explored some of the Map to see what areas we may go to when we return to this Map in future missions. You cannot enter that building next to the Phantom because it’s shielded but if you look inside you can see it goes down into the structure. If you walk around it and explore the caves on the other side you can find the other two Portals.

Park a Ghost right next to it then pile up a bunch of supply cases on top of it using the Mantis.
But seriously, I don’t think 343 would be hiding anything down there at this point.
